Singapore, 29 March 2010 – The best and most popular brands, products and services from Singapore and the region were honoured at the second AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards.
Winners were presented awards at a ceremony held at Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) this evening.
The Awards are based entirely on voting by readers of AsiaOne, the Internet portal of media giant SPH. The choices were short-listed by a panel, comprising the AsiaOne team and external professionals.
The Top People’s Choice Awards winners included Crystal Jade Golden Palace at Paragon for Chinese restaurants, Volkswagen Golf for Hatchbacks, Apple MacBook Pro for laptops, DBS Bank for banks, and Singapore Institute of Management for private schools (post-graduate programmes).
The event’s guest-of-honour, Ms Jessica Tan, Chairman, Government Parliamentary Committee for Finance and Trade & Industry, and Member of Parliament for East Coast GRC, gave out awards for the highly anticipated food categories.
Mr Adrian Tay, Editor of AsiaOne, said, “We would like to congratulate all the winners, as receiving the AsiaOne People’s Choice awards is a testimony that their products and services are highly-regarded and endorsed by the sophisticated readers who visit the AsiaOne portal.”
“With this event, we hope that we can work closer with our trade partners to further strengthen their brand presence among our AsiaOne readers,” added Mr Tay.
Voting started in November 2009 and, within two months, close to 100,000 votes were cast for products in 25 categories. For 2009, the number of categories has more than doubled to 25, up from 11 the year before. Some of the new categories include banks, private schools (post-graduate programmes), service (eatery) and phones.
