Show You Care, Buy A Bear to raise funds for President’s Challenge

Singapore, 20 October 2009 --- In support of President’s Challenge, the annual charity drive initiated by President S R Nathan, Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese Newspapers Division (CND) has launched a charity fund raiser called Show You Care, Buy A Bear.

The six-inch tall bear, specially designed for President's Challenge, comes with a key chain and is sold at $5 nett. All proceeds from the sale of the bears will
be donated to the President’s Challenge, which benefit 37 appointed charity organisations.

President's Challenge is an annual series of community-based activities aimed at mobilising the community to help the less fortunate and raise funds for the social service sector.

Apart from the sale of the charity bears, CND will also be organising the annual Youth Talent Concert to raise funds for the Challenge. Performed by students from various schools, the Youth Talent Concert will be held on 21 November, Saturday, at the VivoCity Amphitheatre. The concert aims to promote Chinese culture through musical and dance performances by young artistes aged between 10 and 25. At the same time, there is a call for corporate and public donors to pledge their support for these young talents by donating to the Challenge. The two schools which raise the most funds through the Youth Talent Concert will receive the "Big Heart Award" from President S R Nathan.

Since 2002, CND has organised many community events to raise funds for charity, namely the National Treasure Hunt, “Show You Care, Buy A Tile”, the ZPop Charity Concert and the Youth Talent Concert.
