First race of its kind incorporating urban obstacles to be held here in January 2010
Singapore, 8 October 2009 --- Men’s Health, Singapore’s No.1 men’s magazine, will take endurance racing to a whole new level with the inaugural Men’s Health Urbanathlon on 31 January next year.
Presented by Berocca, the Men’s Health Urbanathlon 2010 is a running event unlike any other in Singapore, integrating a series of innovative urban obstacles and structures as part of its 12.5km-long course. Flagging off at Marina Promenade, it will test male competitors on their strength, stamina and agility as they navigate a challenging route along the Singapore River in an unforgettable race.
Obstacles planned for the Urbanathlon include the ‘Leap of Faith’, where participants will jump off a platform into the sea before wading through the shallows and continuing their overland route, as well as ‘Wall Street’ - a 1.8m high wall to scale - and other exciting urban challenges. 1,000 male competitors are expected to participate.
The Men’s Health Urbanathlon was first launched in New York in 2006, making its way to Chicago and the UK soon after.

The Singapore edition of this unique race is jointly organised by HiVelocity, the sports event management company responsible for the Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore Triathlon and the Adidas Sundown Marathon.

Mr Teo Ser Luck, Mayor, North East District, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports & Ministry of Transport will be in attendance as Guest-of-Honour.
