Singapore, 25 September 2009 – Singapore Press Holdings scooped 11 awards at the 8th Asia Media Awards 2009 organised by WAN-IFRA, held last night in Chennai, India.
Together with its subsidiary, SPH Magazines Pte Ltd, SPH proved its mettle in the various award categories, clinching top spot in Best in Cross Media (Cross Media Editorial Coverage), Best in Cross Media (Cross Media Advertising), Best in Online Media Award (Newspaper Website) and Best in Online Media (Magazine Website).
In all, SPH took home a total haul of four gold awards, six silvers and one bronze, with a significant number in the online and cross media categories.
omy.sg, SPH’s bilingual news and entertainment portal, clinched two golds in Best in Online Media (Newspaper Website) and Best in Cross Media (Cross Media Editorial Coverage). It also captured a silver in Best in Cross Media (Cross Media Advertising), while the gold went to The Sunday Times/AsiaOne/Radio 91.3FM “Unexpected Australia campaign”.
The Best in Cross Media is a new award introduced this year to honour a newspaper’s ability to offer added value to its readers and advertisers through the use of several media channels.
In awarding this category, panelist Dietmar Schantin said: “With omy.sg and Olympic coverage, SPH used all the canons they have. Highly sophisticated sites such as RazorTV or Stomp are combined with different papers (my paper, The Straits Times) to produce a powerful, cross media, cross channel package. Well done.”
A full list of the awards received by SPH can be found in Annex A below.
