ShareInvestor launches third annual Invest Fair 2009

Singapore, 22 August 2009 – ShareInvestor, a financial internet media and technology company and a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), today officially launched its third annual Invest Fair 2009 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Centred on the theme “Invest with Knowledge”, this event aims to empower both beginners as well as seasoned investors and traders with the knowledge and techniques to make informed trading and investment decisions. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Exchange Limited.

This year’s event attracted a total of 44 sponsors and exhibitors which included listed companies, financial institutions and brokerage houses. Event visitors can also look forward to over 55 paid and free workshops and seminars on the latest economic developments, investment trends and investment product offerings from an array of industry experts and organisations.

Mr Patrick Daniel, Editor-in-Chief of SPH's English and Malay Newspapers Division and Chairman of ShareInvestor Pte Ltd said, “We are fully committed to enhancing the financial literacy of retail investors in Singapore. There are now more first-time investors – from tertiary students to retirees. They must understand their own risk profiles, the various investment concepts and the traits of the different asset classes. We are pleased that we can help investors take that first step to equip themselves with the essential skills and knowledge.”

Following its acquisition by SPH in November 2008, ShareInvestor has partnered SPH’s financial daily The Business Times to organise this year’s Invest Fair 2009, so that it can leverage on the daily’s editorial strength to reach out to investors and key investment stakeholders.

Mr Alvin Tay, Editor of The Business Times, said, “Our editorial coverage and commentaries strive to make sense of the global recession and its implications to companies and investors alike. By co-hosting Invest Fair 2009 with ShareInvestor, we hope to help our readers - the business leaders, decision-makers and investors - keep abreast of the latest investment trends and market sentiments."

Mr Christopher Lee, Chief Executive Officer of ShareInvestor, said , “Tapping on our partnership with The Business Times, Invest Fair offers the valuable opportunity for public-listed companies to communicate on a one-on-one basis with their investors, learn about each others’ views and concerns, and build trust and rapport. At the same time, investors should also capitalise on Invest Fair to acquire an in-depth understanding of other asset classes such as Contracts for Difference and Foreign Exchange. With a strong lineup of leading players in the various asset classes, Invest Fair is a one-stop educational hub which aims to empower investors with knowledge of the various investment opportunities.”

The 2-day Invest Fair 2009 is held at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Level 4, Exhibition Halls 402-403 on 22-23 August 2009 from 10.00am to 7.00pm.

Admission to Invest Fair 2009 is free. For more details on workshop and seminar schedules and registration fees to be paid, please visit www.investfair.com.sg.
