Singapore, 31 July 2009 – Come witness the first-ever Shin Min Daily News Arm Wrestling Challenge 2009
(《新明日报》角力竞赛), organised by Singapore Press Holdings' evening daily Shin Min Daily News (新明日报) and presented by Carlsberg Special Brew (皇帽皇啤酒). This 3-week challenge will kick off on 1 August 2009.
The competition is open to men aged 21 years and above in 2 categories - the Welterweight Category (70kg and below) and the Heavyweight category (Above 70kg). A total of more than $10,000 cash will be won by the competitors with the winner of each category standing to win $3000 cash, a trophy and Carlsberg products.
There will be 2 quarter-final rounds which will lead up to the Grand Finals on 14 August.
Besides catching the action live, spectators will be entertained by performances by renowned Getai artistes Huang Lei (黄雷) and Karen Lim (林晓婷) at the quarter-finals and the Bao Bei Sisters (宝贝姐妹) and Liu Ling Ling (刘玲玲) at the Grand Finals.
A specially-created Iron Arm machine will also be available on-site for spectators to try their hand at arm wrestling and win attractive prizes. There will be even more fun activities at the Grand Finals. The public can participate in the ladies arm wrestling segment, the sexiest biceps and biggest upper arm contests, or challenge a 1.88m, 120kg hunk to win attractive prizes.
The events will be hosted by popular Radio 100.3 DJs Huang Wenhong (黄文鸿)、Ye Limei (叶丽梅) and Luo Kemin (罗克敏)。They will be joined by special guest host Liu Ling Ling at the Grand Finals.
