Come face to face with ’Dr Doom’ at The Business Times Dialogue

THE FINANCIAL CRISIS: WHERE WE ARE NOW AND WHERE WE ARE HEADED

Singapore, 18 February 2009 - The Business Times, in partnership with Swiss financial institution Bank Julius Baer, will hold the inaugural Business Times Dialogue on 20 February 2009 at the Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore. The keynote speaker in this annual series is Dr Marc Faber, editor and publisher of ’The Gloom Boom & Doom Report’ and famous investment guru.

Popularly known as "Dr Doom" and renowned for his contrarian investment approach, Dr Faber will no doubt engage the audience when he speaks on ’The Financial Crisis : Where we are now and where we are headed’. In his session, he will share critical insights and further strategies to weather the financial crisis.

Joining him is Dr V. Anantha-Nageswaran, Chief Investment Officer for Asia-Pacific at Bank Julius Baer, the Swiss financial institution and leading dedicated wealth manager.

The half-day dialogue session, which sees world-class speakers sharing insights on current affairs, is organised by The Business Times, South-east Asia’s leading business daily published by Singapore Press Holdings. The dialogue session received overwhelming interest from the public. The registration period is now closed.

The dialogue session will be moderated by Mr Vikram Khanna, Associate Editor of The Business Times.

Broadcasting
SPH has a 20 per cent stake in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd, which operates free-to-air channels 5, 8, U and TV Mobile, and a 40 per cent stake in MediaCorp Press Pte Ltd, which publishes the free newspaper, Today. In the radio business, SPH has an 80 per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations Radio 100.3 FM in Mandarin and Radio 91.3 FM in English.

Outdoor Advertising
In addition, SPH has ventured into outdoor advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore´s largest outdoor motion display advertising network media company and a 35 per cent stake in TOM Outdoor Media Group, a leading outdoor advertising company in China.

Properties
SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore’s main shopping belt. SPH’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, is also developing a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
