Introduces two "firsts" in its five-year history
Singapore, December 9, 2008 - Seventeen, a publication of SPH Magazines Pte Ltd ("SPH Magazines"), presents Seventeen Queen of Queens 2008, an inter-varsity pageant held annually since 2004.
For the first time in the history of this signature event, Seventeen Queen of Queens contestants get up close and personal with their supporters on individual blogs on the Queen of Queens site. Readers and the public can get to know this year´s finalists a little better and discover what´s so special about them, before voting for their favourite on www.seventeen.com.sg.
Another “first” for the event: Besides the website, supporters can vote for their favourite contender through ZapCode. Voters stand to win prizes from sponsors and ZapCode just for selecting the finalist they want to win, as well as exclusive invites to the finals.
“As Singapore´s most popular young women´s magazine, Seventeen is proud to present this signature annual competition. Seventeen Queen of Queens celebrates everything that is special and outstanding about young women, and Seventeen readers look forward to supporting the event every year. This year, the contestants will be blogging on the website for the very first time. In addition to the website, voters can also select their favourite Queen via ZapCode.” Sasha Gonzales, Editor, Seventeen Singapore, added.
Seventeen Queen of Queens showcases pageant winners from four local universities – NUS, NTU, SMU and SIM. Throughout the academic year, each university conducts its respective varsity pageant and crowns its favourite beauty queen. Seventeen Queen of Queens brings together the year’s pageant queens from the various universities to compete for the ultimate Queen of Queens title. The one who walks away with the main prize will possess that rare combination of beauty, brains, poise and charm.
Guests will meet the contesting Queens in person as they compete for the crown on 12 December 2008 (Friday) at Powerhouse, St. James Power Station. It will also be a night of non-stop partying, as students and supporters from the various universities band together to cheer on their favourite Queens.
Seventeen Queen of Queens is a favourite with many advertisers. This year, we have the continued support from Forever 21, Canon, Hoyu and St James Power Station, and, joining this lineup of sponsors for the first time, Za and Ciba Vision. Besides the fun factor, this event is the perfect opportunity and medium for advertisers to reach their target audience in a personal manner. Seventeen Queen of Queens is organised by SPH Magazines.
