Singapore, 12 June 2008 – The Berita Harian Financial Planning Conference 2008 is now open for registration. The conference, to be held on July 20, 2008 at Raffles City Convention Centre, will look at financial planning for retirement. Mr Lim Boon Heng, Minister, Prime Minister´s Office, will be opening the conference.
Topics relating to the conference theme of “Plan Early, Retire Comfortably” will be discussed. These include the impact of the recent CPF reforms on planning for retirement, the common pitfalls of retirement planning and other sources of retirement funds.
A series of speakers will be sharing on the following topics:
- The Emerging Retirement Landscape (in English) by Mr Alwynn Barreto, Director of Pensions Asia, Prudential
- Building your retirement portfolio (in English) by Mr David Lum, Director of Marketing-Products, Prudential Assurance CS
- How can we diversify our portfolio while complying with Syariah requirements? (in English) by Mr Isa Eamon Keavenly, Vice President, Deutsche Asset Management
- Retirement Issues and The Malay Community : Problems, Pitfalls and Lessons (in Malay) by Mr Noor Mohamed Marican, Lawyer, Noor Mohamed Marican & Associates
- Scam Busters: How to protect yourself from scams (in Malay) by Mr Azizi Ali, author of personal finance book “Scambuster: How to Protect Yourself from Scams, Get-rich-quick Schemes and Other Unworldly Investments”.

The conference fee is $62 for Maybank customers and $68 for non-Maybank customers for registration by June 28. It includes all seminar materials, refreshments and lunch.
