Are you Men’s Health enough?

Men´s Health magazine isn´t looking for models; they´re looking for role models.

Singapore, 18 April 2008 – Are You Men´s Health Enough? 2008 (RUMH Enough?), organized by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd ("SPH Magazines"), is an island-wide search for regular guys who embody everything that Men´s Health is about. Guys who work and play hard, lead well-balanced and active lives, and guys who have overcome personal challenges and obstacles to achieve success in their own right were eligible to take part.

For the second year, RUMH Enough? has found 10 guys with inspiring stories that make them the modern, well-rounded guys. Among this year´s 10 finalists, there is Terence Lew, a hearing-impaired Ironman triathlete; Francis Wong, a doctor and rugby enthusiast, who battled a cyst in his brain and thyroid disease; and Jerry Seah, a triathlon coach who gave up an engineering job with an MNC to work with youth athletes.

“More amazing than their personal triumphs and success is the fact that these 10 guys don´t really think that the lives they lead is a big deal,” says Men´s Health editor, Raymond Goh. “After spending some time with them, you realise that they´ve done what they´ve done not so that they can talk about it or appear in a magazine, but simply because they knew it had to be done. I think there´s a lesson in there for all of us.”

All 10 RUMH Enough? finalists were put through a series of challenges and tests over a period of six months. They were tested on their fitness levels, on their personal sense of style and even put through a gruelling rope-and-obstacle course.

"Men’s Health’s focus on inspiring guys to lead a healthy, positive and well balanced life makes it one of the best-read men’s titles in Singapore. Its authoritative and very credible content not only serves the readers, but has also won over our advertisers who choose Men’s Health as a reliable medium for their message. Their association with the title also means for them a highly positive public image that is, at once, effective and credible. Are You Men’s Health Enough? 2008 is a natural extension of the magazine’s philosophy and reinforces SPH Magazines’ stand on the importance of overall well-being in a fast-paced urban world," says Allen Loh, Managing Director, SPH Magazines.

Come May 9, the winner of the contest – decided by online votes from readers, as well as a panel comprising the Men´s Health team – will be revealed at Zouk. Three subsidiary awards will also be given out to the guys on the night of the grand finals. These awards will be determined by three sponsors, namely Polar Fitness, Rodenstock and Tiger Beer. The subsidiary awards are:

  • the Fittest Guy award,
  • the Coolest Guy award, and
  • the Live Life To The Fullest award

A total of more than $90,000 worth of prizes are to be won by the finalists as well as our voters! The RUMH Enough? 2008 winner will receive $18,000 worth of prizes, which include a two-night resort stay for two at Phuket, sports apparels, eyewear, health supplement, shopping vouchers and many more. The other 9 finalists will each receive at least $2,700 worth of prizes.

From now till 30 April, readers can log on to www.rumhenough.com and vote for the finalist whom they find most inspiring. They stand a chance to win attractive prizes in our Grand lucky draw. The lucky draw prizes include an Oris Williams F1 Team Day Date, a two-night accommodation with breakfast for two in Bangkok, shopping vouchers and many more.
