Singapore, 27 April 2007 - 86 sports utility vehicles
(SUVs) will be embarking on an adventure drive of a lifetime to Port Dickson
during this long weekend where they will try to outplay, outsmart and outdrive
their opponents. Organised by The New Paper for the second year and presented by
Champion Motors, the distributor of Suzuki cars, the TNP SUVival Challenge (28
and 29 April) will be testing the survival instincts of the SUVs and their
drivers who have signed up for the two-day one-night challenging self-drive
journey to Port Dickson, with a half-day treasure hunt in Malacca.
Three top teams will win cash prizes and SPC Petrol Vouchers worth a total of $7,000. Fourth to eighth-placed teams will win SPC petrol vouchers and iLuv iPod accessories worth a total of $3,114. There will also be a best-decorated SUV contest where 2 SUVs owners can drive away with products from Hella and iLuv iPod accessories worth over $1,000 each.
The event will be flagged off at 7.45am from Raffles Marina (10 Tuas West Drive) and once the SUVs have crossed the immigration at the Second Link, the race will officially begin. The challenge involves drivers having to hunt for answers to encrypted clues and taking on challenges planted at different checkpoints within Malacca and Port Dickson. The team with the highest point after completing the challenges will be the winner.
Day two of the event will see a team from Suzuki giving a 4x4 off-road demo and participants will have to chance to try out Suzuki SUVs on the rugged terrain at the demo course.
The event is presented by Champion Motors, Suzuki, with Courts as the main sponsor. Other co-sponsors include Hella, Yokohama, iLuv and SPC. It is organised by The New Paper with AsiaOne as the online partner.
