Paragon celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Singapore and Switzerland

Singapore, 17 July 2017 – In collaboration with The Embassy of Switzerland and Switzerland Tourism Board, Paragon will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Switzerland from 27 July to 13 August 2017. With all things Swiss and local, shoppers can expect an exciting and interesting line-up of events and performances!

EVENT: 27 July, 4pm – 6pm
His Excellency Mr Thomas Kupfer, Ambassador of Switzerland to Singapore, will be officiating the opening of this celebration at Paragon. There will be special performances at Paragon’s main entrance foyer by Yu Neng Primary School Choir, The Rolling Tones and Carol Gomez singing to Oh Du Goldigs Sünneli, and Swiss Classical Folk Trio who will be singing with the alphorn playing to traditional Swiss folksongs.

His Excellency Mr Thomas Kupfer will also be presenting Paragon’s Fashion Cows, with designs curated by students from Raffles Design Institute, to the adopting organisations i.e. Paragon, Cortina Watch, Huber’s and modernAge. Nett proceeds from the adoption of the Paragon’s Fashion Cows will be donated to The Business Times Budding Artists’ Fund to nurture and develop art interests and talents for the young. 

ATRIUM, LEVEL 1: 27 July – 13 Aug

Transport yourself to the beautiful natural landscape of Switzerland or its high alpine ice wonderland at the customised Virtual Reality Experience booth. Shoppers can also travel in style to the Swiss Alps by picking up exclusive merchandise from Brunello Cucinelli, Timberland and Victorinox by The Planet Traveller at Paragon’s main atrium from 27 July to 1 August. There will also be a showcase where shoppers can browse through unique fashion outfits exuding Switzerland and Singapore elements designed by fashion students from Raffles Design Institute. 

From 2 to 6 August, sports will take centre stage with a showcase of thematic and fashionable sports gear from ASICS, Columbia, PUMA and The North Face. For the adventurous shoppers, have a go at gliding across a 12-metre ski track at Paragon’s main entrance along Orchard Road. Those who clock the shortest possible time will stand to win attractive prizes. 

Celebrating all things local and Singapore’s 52nd birthday, shoppers can enjoy the display of orchid floral arrangements at the atrium from 2 to 13 August. Shoppers will also be entertained by performances of local singer-songwriters at the Going Local Popup! 2017, a collaboration with COMPASS and ET Music. Young students from The Rice Company will also be performing heart-warming local songs to commemorate the Nation’s birthday.

From 7 to 13 August, Cortina Watch will present a series of luxury Swiss timepiece displays by Chopard, Corum, Hautlence and Zenith. Discover how Swiss watches work and learn about Swiss watch history, design and the manufacturing process at Watch.Swiss, a travelling exhibition dedicated to Swiss watchmaking presented by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH. 

Shoppers can also enjoy a wide array of Switzerland and Singapore themed delicious treats curated by Paragon Marketplace. Enjoy and sip a cup of Nespresso coffee on the house, brewed using the latest Creatista coffee machine and other machine innovations. Learn the art of rare Swiss wine appreciation presented by Wine Universe at Atrium, Level 1 (near Tod’s) from 27 July to 13 August.

With a minimum spend of $200 in a single receipt at Paragon, shoppers can participate in the Swiss Draw to win over $20,000 worth of prizes.
