Singapore, 15 May 2006 – Following the successful launch concert at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in April, Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will present the second SCO Caring Series concert (新加坡华乐团关怀系列) at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital tomorrow. The SCO Caring Series, which are special performances to benefit patients and residents of hospitals and hospices, form part of the second season of the SPH Gift of Music series which debuted in May last year.

To allow all patients to experience the joy and healing power of music, student volunteers from Bishan Park Secondary School will be at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital to help wheel patients who are not mobile to the performance area.

SCO musicians will entertain the patients, caregivers and volunteers with popular and cheerful Chinese classics such as Thunderstorm and Drought (旱天雷) and Delightful Melody in Good Times (娱乐升平). The orchestra will perform under the baton of SCO’s Assistant Conductor Mr Lim Kiong Pin (林向斌).

The concert at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital is the second of six concerts under the SCO Caring Series. The remaining hospitals that will benefit from this series are St. Luke´s Hospital, St. Andrew´s Community Hospital, Dover Park Hospice and Singapore General Hospital.
