The Art of Gifting at Paragon

Singapore, 4 November 2016 – This Christmas, Paragon is celebrating the spirit of giving by partnering the Artist Development Programme (ADP) by Pathlight School for The Art of Gifting, an art exhibition.

A premier, upscale retail mall in the heart of Orchard Road, Paragon is well-placed to promote art and raise awareness of these talented people with autism and related challenges, to the general public. The Art of Gifting will feature eight unique works by eight Pathlight student artists (refer to Annexe A for artist profiles). The exhibition will be held at the Atrium 2 from 11-27 November 2016 and will launch the lineup of festivities at Paragon.

The art pieces and prints will be available for sale at the exhibition. Student artists will earn royalties from the sale of their works. Shoppers who purchase the original art piece or its print on-site or through a microsite on www.paragon.sg, will receive an early Christmas gift from nine supporting brand stores (refer to Annexe B).

Eugenie Yap, General Manager of Paragon, said: “Paragon believes in supporting arts, music and cultural diversity by staging performances at the mall. This Christmas, together with our tenants, we are happy to be doing good by promoting the arts and helping to build an inclusive society through The Art of Gifting exhibition.”

“Pathlight started this Artist Development Programme to nurture the talents of people with autism and help them grow both personally and professionally. We are grateful to work with partners like Paragon to showcase the works of eight of our talented ADP artists. It is through partners like Paragon that we can help to reach out to more people as every opportunity to showcase the works of artists with autism is a platform for more people to understand about the talents and abilities of these special people,” said Linda Kho, Principal, Pathlight School.

The 17-day exhibition marks the start of the Christmas festivities at Paragon. In addition to the The Art of Gifting exhibition, Paragon has also adopted the 'Snowflakes in Reindeer' motif designed by ADP artist, Jolie Lim as Paragon’s exclusive gift wrapper and gift tag. Shoppers will receive the exclusive gift wrappers and gift tags with a minimum spend of $80 in a single receipt. Maximum 2 redemptions per shopper per day.

About Pathlight School

Pathlight School is the first autism-focused school in Singapore. It provides a unique blend of mainstream academics and life-readiness skills for students with autism and related learning disorders, aged seven to 18 years old. Invited by the Ministry of Education (MOE), it began operations in January 2004 with just 41 students. Today, with more than 1000 students, it is one of the fastest growing and progressive special schools in Singapore.

About Artist Development Programme
Launched in 2011, the Artist Development Programme (ADP) is an award-winning programme aimed at uncovering and developing the potential of students. It received the Special Education Innovation Award by the Ministry of Education in 2012, in recognition of innovation in enhancing students’ learning.

Under the ADP, professional artists work with the student artists to nurture their talents and bring out the best in them. Where possible, their artworks are turned into art merchandise and student artists earn royalties from the sale of their works.

The ADP has since grown from 8 to 36 artists, each with their own special style and art forms.
