Themed “Run Your Own Race, At Your Own Pace, In Your Own Time”, runners from all walks of life will aim to clock a total distance of 100,000km in two months. Participants simply need to clock in the distance for the Virtual Run with their devices during their daily run routines or at running events, making each run a more rewarding one.The Men’s Health Virtual Run 2016 is organised by Men’s Health magazine in collaboration with renowned sports brand ASICS and global running app RunKeeper that accurately tracks a runner’s mileage, besides providing additional information such as pace and calories burned. Pang Lee Cheng, SPH Magazine’s General Manager, said: “The Men’s Health Virtual Run is a proud extension of the Men’s Health brand, and aims to add a refreshing and healthy aspect to a participant’s lifestyle. It is also a product resulting from a shared belief with our sponsors, that in this social media age, technology is a core part of fitness.” For a start, participants will receive rewards as they accrue mileage during the Men’s Health Virtual Run. For example, there are four key milestones that one can reach – 5km, 21km, 42km and 100km. Each level allows the runner to redeem variant prizes from ASICS vouchers and spa treatments, to golf sessions and many more. Sign-up rewards worth $128 are also given to each participant and no registration fee required. Furthermore, over $10,000 worth of lucky draw prizes will be extended to all runners. These perks complement the slew of fun social media challenges that will help shape the event into a purposeful and exciting one.Singaporean actor and host Allan Wu who is also a participant of Men's Health Virtual Run, said: “The Men's Health Virtual Run will be an exciting time for everyone to work together with one common goal of getting in better shape and fitness through running, so let's get synced up and go!" Jeri Chua, former magazine editor turned endurance athlete, said: “Every epic adventure starts with a single step.” Jeri competed in several international ultra races including the Tor des Geants – a 330km race through the Italian Alps.“When I run an ultra, there's never a guarantee that I'll finish, but it's all about the journey, and what I learn along the way. 100km might seem impossible at first, but you'll be surprised what you can achieve if you just keep moving. This challenge could be the start of a life-changing experience, so get out there and take that first step!” Other participating celebrities and influencers include Chris Yeo, Mok Ying Rong, Anne Qi-Hui, Pris Chew, Baldwin Choy, Edwin Siew, Shan Wee, Cheryl Miles, Shaun Tupaz and Elliott Danker. For more information about the run, visit http://www.menshealth.com.sg/vr.ISSUED BY SPH MAGAZINES PTE LTD
