Singapore, 19 August 2016 – Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH), Asia’s leading media company, clinched four awards at The Spark Awards 2016 last night. The awards were presented at the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner at Four Seasons Hotel.The Spark Awards, organised by Marketing Magazine, is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia which celebrates the best media solutions, products and services by top media owners and publishers from across the region. Trophies across 31 categories were awarded to the leading media owners at the ceremony and SPH bagged 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze awards.SPH’s FastJobs app, a mobile platform for job seekers to search for temporary, contract, non-executive and part-time jobs, clinched a Gold in the “Best App by a Media Owner” category. Packed with essential functionalities, the mobile app simplifies and fast-tracks the job search and application process for jobseekers. The FastJobs app was awarded a Bronze in the same category at The Spark Awards 2015.
SPH also won a Silver in the “Best Media Solution – Print” category for its "A Sparkling Christmas with Swarovski" print ad, which appeared in The Sunday Times newspaper. Working together with the Swarovski creative team, SPH CreativeLAB brought Christmas cheer to 350,000 households in a unique, interactive manner – a 3D Christmas Tree origami advertisement (a 4pp cover-wrap of The Sunday Times) where readers could cut and fold the newspaper into a glittering Swarovski tree. The campaign successfully brought the Swarovski brand into every household and also highlighted how with creativity, the newspaper is a powerful, effective and engaging advertising platform.
The Business Times, Singapore's leading financial daily, won one award – a Silver in the "Best Subscription Strategy" category for the paper's All-in-One Package Campaign, which offers readers access to content across print and digital platforms. The Business Times was also a finalist in the "Best Event by a Media Owner" category for The Business Times Wine Challenge – CEOs' Choice.
SPHMBO, SPH's out-of-home (OOH) advertising arm, bagged a Bronze in the "Best Media Solution – Out of Home" category for its "Peel Off and Take Off to Darwin with SilkAir" campaign. The successful campaign, strategically placed along the basement linkway of Ocean Financial Centre, featured a large wall mural with photos and a digital screen providing a visual experience of activities one can do in Darwin. The campaign also engaged audience by getting them to peel off stickers on the wall mural for a lucky draw code which gives them the opportunity to win four return tickets to Darwin. The same campaign was also a finalist in the "Best Media Solution – Experiential" category.
SPH's subsidiaries, SPH Radio and SPH Magazines' herworldPLUS were also finalists in the "Best Commercial Team" and "Best Website by a Media Owner" categories respectively.
