Miss Universe Singapore 2016 is back with brand new look

Singapore, 18 July 2016 - The national edition of Singapore's most prestigious beauty pageant is back and bigger than ever, with new presenter Singapore Turf Club and new imaging partner Canon Singapore on board.

And for the first time, The New Paper (TNP) will be bringing you the revamped event this year, as new official media partner and co-organiser alongside the Miss Universe Singapore Organisation (MUSO).

Miss Nuraliza Osman, who won the Miss Universe Singapore title in 2002 and is the national director of MUSO, said: "We are delighted to announce our collaboration with The New Paper, Singapore Press Holdings to deliver Miss Universe Singapore 2016. The negotiations for the deal have taken almost nine months and we believe that the collaboration with Singapore's media powerhouse will bring the pageant back to the hearts and minds of fellow Singaporeans, by giving the platform for contestants to reach out to and be known to Singaporeans."

Making its first venture into the beauty pageant arena is Miss Universe Singapore 2016's official presenter Singapore Turf Club. Its Senior Vice President (Corporate Services), Mr Simon Leong, said: "Singapore Turf Club is proud to collaborate with one of our key media partners, The New Paper, to be the presenter for Miss Universe Singapore 2016. The pageant recognises and showcases the many talented, intelligent and beautiful Singapore contestants who aspire to gain an invaluable experience on the world stage. Through presenting this pageant, we are happy to be part of the journey for the many hopefuls who will vie for the prestigious title of Miss Universe Singapore and represent Singapore as an ambassador before a global audience."

Joining this year's event too as official imaging partner is Canon Singapore. Its Head of Marketing (Singapore operations), Mr Edwin Teoh, said: "Miss Universe Singapore provides the perfect platform for us to involve our photographic community. I am sure members of our EOS World will relish capturing shots of the fabulous contestants and seeing their works in TNP."

Editor of The New Paper, Mr Dominic Nathan, added: "Using The New Paper's unique voice, we are confident that together with Nuraliza, Singapore Turf Club and Canon Singapore, we can raise the profile of the pageant. We will bring to it the right balance of elegance and fun. With TNP's New Face and Miss Universe Singapore, The New Paper has effectively cornered the market for spotting talent and beauty in Singapore."

Miss Lisa Marie White was crowned in 2015 and went on to represent Singapore at the international Miss Universe pageant last December in Las Vegas.

And we are now on the lookout for a new queen to fly Singapore's flag high at the world's most elite pageant, on the biggest stage of their life. The winner will also receive a $10,000 cash prize.

Registrations are now open to women aged 18 to 27 years old, and participants can sign up at Miss Universe Singapore's official website  http://missuniversesingapore.com.sg/registration.html

The closing date for applications is Aug 17.
