StarHub Mobile Postpaid customers to enjoy free local data access to nine SPH Apps

Singapore, 13 July 2016 – Starting 15 July 2016, all existing and new StarHub Mobile Postpaid customers will enjoy free local data access to nine Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) mobile apps for one year. The apps are namely AsiaOne, Berita Harian, Lianhe Wanbao, Lianhe Zaobao, The Business Times, The Straits Times, ONE FM 91.3, Kiss92 and UFM 100.3. Other apps offered by SPH will be added in the coming months.  All SPH mobile apps can be downloaded for free via Apple Store or Google Play on mobile devices.

This collaboration is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between SPH and StarHub in March 2016. Under this MOU, the two companies will collaborate in areas of advertising sales, creation and carriage of content, data analytics and marketing.

Mr Anthony Tan, Deputy CEO of SPH, said: “SPH is glad to partner StarHub on this breakthrough collaboration that will bring the best mobile news, lifestyle and radio content to our customers anytime locally without worrying about data caps. Following the successful launch of the recent Zaobao Keywords news programme on StarHub TV, we look forward to another successful partnership with this latest initiative.”

Ms Jeannie Ong, Chief Strategic Partnership Officer of StarHub, said: “Mobile users in Singapore are accessing more content on the go. When it comes to news, SPH apps are naturally popular sources of information. This collaboration will bring SPH’s wealth of content closer to our Mobile Postpaid customers who can enjoy SPH apps to their hearts’ content without worrying about data charges.”

“StarHub and SPH are true partners, in every sense of the word. As soon as our partnership MOU was inked, we have been working closely together and tapping on each other’s strengths for the benefit of our customers. Today’s announcement closely follows the debut of Zaobao Keywords news programme on StarHub’s E City channel on 4 July.  We definitely mean business, and will have more good news in the pipeline for consumers in Singapore,” added Ms Ong.

In addition to the free local data access, new customers of any Lianhe Zaobao’s subscription package or current print subscribers who upgrade to the All-in-One package before 17 August 2016 will receive a box of specially-curated Lianhe Zaobao mooncakes worth $168. The exquisitely designed mooncake box contains six of the best mooncakes from leading hotels in Singapore. In addition, Lianhe Zaobao All-in-One subscribers can choose to purchase the new OPPO R9 at an exclusive price of $149 (U.P. $299) when they sign up for a two-year 4G3 mobile plan with StarHub before 15 September 2016
