Singapore, 24 June 2016 – Sphere Conferences, the conference arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH), together with At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, today launched the inaugural Food That Heals 2016 from 24 to 25 June at At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy.
In line with the Singapore government’s efforts in promoting healthy living, Food That Heals 2016 delicately combines the science of nutrition and the art of cooking and eating (cook like a chef and think like a doctor) in one platform to help prevent and achieve improved health outcomes for individuals.
The highlight of first day of the conference is the keynote address from Dr Timothy S. Harlan from the College of Medicine, Tulane University and Goldring Centre for Culinary Medicine. Dr Harlan will be sharing on “Eating Great Food, Your Easiest Path to Health”. Other intriguing topics include cancer prevention through diet, nutritious food for better eye sight, Type 2 diabetes prevention and Japanese macrobiotics. The second half of the day features two cook-and-tell workshops on Japanese macrobiotics and working with spices.
Day Two of the conference will gather leading minds in Singapore, who are committed to healthy eating and living, sharing their personal experience in thought-provoking panel discussions and presentations. Topics include how chefs prepare their healthy menu, how top leaders walk the talk on eating well and living good, how to heal your body through food and plant-based diet. The second half of the day introduces the inspiring story of a senior chef who turned vegetarian as well as cooking with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Dr Kwan Lui, Founder and Director of At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, said: “We want to empower smart eating in the selection of food, on how and when to eat, how to prepare and cook.”
With this mission in mind, At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy announced the first of its kind innovative collaboration with Khoo Teck Puat hospital called 'Earth to Table' Programme. This programme is designed to inspire a new generation of culinary wellbeing chefs for the rapidly aging population.
