43 restaurants honoured at the Awards, the largest number over the past 7 years
Singapore, 13 June 2016 – The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel, a publication of SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (SPH Magazines), presented 43 awards at the highly-anticipated G Restaurant Awards 2016 held tonight at the InterContinental Singapore Ballroom. Into its seventh year, the annual Awards recognises the best of the best dining experiences delivered by restaurants.
Two-year-old Corner House received top honour and was crowned Restaurant of the Year 2016 for its unique gastro-botanica cuisine and the best service. Other category winners include Les Amis (Western) and Hashida Sushi (Non-Western) for Best Dinner Experience. The award for Best Business Lunch went to Osteria Art (Western) and Cherry Garden (Non-Western), while Best New Restaurant was awarded toOdette (Western) and National Kitchen by Violet Oon (Non-Western). There were 21 restaurants appearing on the list for the first time, the largest to date.
This year’s G Restaurant Awards also included 3 new categories that are highly popular dining experiences in Singapore’s food scene. The new categories – Best All-Day Dining, Best Afternoon Tea and Best Champagne Brunch – also recognise consistently high standards in food and service achieved by these restaurants.
Best All-Day Dining was awarded to Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore, Best Afternoon Tea to Tea Lounge at Regent Singapore and Colony at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, received Best Champagne Brunch.
Every year, Gourmet & Travel collaborates with veteran food critics such as The Straits Times’ Wong Ah Yoke and Lianhe Zaobao’s Dr Ng King Kang for an initial nomination and shortlist of top restaurants in respective categories.
Over the course of six months, Gourmet and Travel accompanied foodies and head honchos such as Leslie Yeo and Kathryn Yap, ambassadors as well as wine expert Edwin Soon for incognito tastings at nominated restaurants for final selection.
