The Men’s Health Urbanathlon 2016 gets tougher with new CrossFit challenge, a first for any run in Singapore

Singapore, 15 December 2015 – The seventh Men’s Health Urbanathlon returns on 13 March 2016 and includes an all-new CrossFit-based obstacle, a first for a running event in Singapore. Singapore’s original urban obstacle race looks set to push the limits of Urbanathletes in its toughest edition yet, testing various aspects of their physical and mental well-being.

The brand new CrossFit obstacle lineup will include box jumps, wall ball, kettlebell lifts, overhead squats and jumping lunges – challenging moves taken directly from one of the toughest sports right now that will up the ante for participants. In addition, other new obstacles like Lift ‘N’ LoadSide Walk and Maze Runner will push Urbanathletes to dig deeper into their physical and mental reserves to conquer the race.

Nine full-fledged obstacles await runners on the 14km course – both new and modified from the previous years – each one testing various aspects of Urbanathletes’ physical stamina and mental fortitude. Urbanathletes can look forward to finishing off the race with a grand finale obstacle.

A highlight on Singapore’s running calendar

Similar to the Urbanathlon held in March this year, men and women can compete in the race. Alongside the men, female runners have also displayed equal grit and finesse in navigating the obstacles in previous editions.

Besides having top-quality obstacles, Urbanathlon 2016 also boasts attractive prizes and race packs for participants. In addition, each finisher will receive a medal, exclusive Urbanathlon finisher’s T-shirt and a personalised certificate.

Urbanathletes can enjoy food, drinks and entertainment at the vibrant race village after crossing the finishing line. Friends and family members of runners are welcome to join in the post-race festivities.

The Singapore Men’s Health Urbanathlon is organised by SPH Magazines, and presented by Tigerair & Scoot. Adidas is the official apparel of Urbanathlon 2016, which is also supported by Sport Singapore. The main sponsors include 100Plus and Lab Series, while the partner is Isagenix.

Registrations are now open, and participants who sign up by 15 January 2016will enjoy $20 off the original price at a discounted Early Bird rate of $108. Teams of four and more will enjoy a further discount at only $98 per person. Each Urbanathlete will receive a race pack worth over $150, including an Adidas race tee and a complimentary six-month digital subscription to Men’s Health Singapore.

The race is open to male and female participants aged 18 years old and above.
