These individuals have shattered the proverbial glass ceiling and scaled the corporate rungs to be leaders and influencers in their respective professions. Candidates were selected from a range of industries, for their contributions to their organisation's growth, as well as their impact in their field of work and society at large. Jennie Chua, Ambassador to The United Mexican StatesShe brought Singapore to the top league of the global convention business; elevated the prestige of the Raffles brand; and helmed The Ascott Group, the world’s largest owner-operator of serviced residences. She was chairman of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce, the first woman to hold the post in the chamber's 178-year history. 4. Rachel Eng, Joint Managing Partner, WongPartnership LLPSince joining the law firm in 1995, she has handled some of the nation’s biggest initial public offerings, including CapitaMalls Asia and IHH Healthcare, the first dual concurrent listing on Bursa Malaysia and the Singapore Exchange. She is the only person to have been named Managing Partner of the Year at the ALB SE Asia Law Awards twice. 5. Noeleen Heyzer, former United Nations Under-Secretary-GeneralHeyzer put Singapore on the UN map. As the first Singaporean to head a UN agency and the first woman outside North America to head Unifem, she spearheaded efforts that led to women participating in peace negotiation and the electoral process and, in shaping their post-conflict societies, transformed the lives of millions in developing countries.6. Yasmin Khan, Senior Vice-President, Southeast Asia & South Asia, DHL ExpressShe is one of the key drivers behind the establishment of DHL’s ground-breaking Disaster Recovery Team (DRT), which provides logistics services to governments during natural calamities. Since 2005, DRTs have been deployed over 30 times worldwide to assist in global emergencies, including in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake, and Vanuatu following the destruction caused by Cyclone Pam early this year.7. Professor Ivy Ng, Group CEO, Singapore Health ServicesIn her eight years as CEO at KKH, she helped transform it from an obstetrics and gynaecology specialist to that of a women’s and children’s hospital offering a holistic range of services from preventive fitness assessments to treatment of acute conditions and tertiary care of complex diseases. As group CEO of SingHealth, she oversees the development of the regional health system in the north-east, which includes the upcoming Sengkang Health hospitals. 8. Rita Soh, Director, RDC ArchitectsSoh is a force for innovation in the architecture field. During her tenure as president of the Singapore Institute of Architects, she spearheaded the creation of a company within the institute to conduct full-time research and testing of IT solutions for her fellow professionals. She was also the driving force behind Apex, a software for architects to manage their e-mail, timesheets and project data. Apex has since evolved into a Web-based programme and is now being marketed to professionals such as engineers and contractors. 9. Tan Su Shan, Managing Director and Group Head of Consumer Banking and Wealth Management, DBS BankLast year, Tan led DBS’ acquisition of the Asian private banking business of French bank Societe Generale, which cemented the local bank’s status as a key player in the regional banking scene. Last October, she was named the world’s Best Leader in Private Banking at the prestigious PWM/The Banker Global Private Banking Awards in Geneva, a first for a Singaporean. 10. Tan Yen Yen, Regional Vice-President and MD, Asia Pacific (South), SAS Tan is the first woman to win the IT Leader of the Year title from the Singapore Computer Society for her significant contribution to the IT industry here. As a board member of Singapore's Defence Science and Technology Agency and chairman of the Singapore Science Centre, she shapes how the subject is learnt and applied.
