Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore celebrated Singapore’s 50th birthday with fashion shoot, Homeland

Singapore, 29 October 2015 --  Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore celebrated this Jubilee year by going on a tour of the Lion City and capturing the latest fashion against iconic locales in celebration of SG50.

“As the nation celebrated its jubilee year with fireworks, pyrotechnic displays and whizzing airplanes, we took to the streets and heartlands of Singapore to shoot 38 pages of incredible fashion—we put Saint Laurent in Haji Lane and Calvin Klein in Marina Barrage," said Kenneth Goh, Editor-in-Chief, Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore.

The Homeland shoot was also a self-referential shoot - taking cues from a shoot which the magazine did around Singapore more than seven years ago. 

"Back then, we shot Singapore’s heartland neighbourhoods right through to ultra-modern suburbs like Punggol; Marina Bay Sands hadn’t been built yet and Tiong Bahru wasn’t the hipster-ville you see today. This year, we captured more nuances, showcasing cutting-edge fashion in places celebrated more for their food than style," added Kenneth.

That 12-image spread from seven years ago has since mushroomed into a 38-page extravaganza with 32 images with different locations and even more landmarks.  Coordinating the 38-page shoot was no mean feat as 60 outfits were featured from 32 fashion brands.

The shoot was done by renowned photographer, Georges Antoni, who also shot the spread around Singapore seven years ago.  The spread captured over 30 locations around Singapore with 7 models over 3 days. The team also collaborated with cool, new artists and illustrators to reinterpret images with their own artistic take, blending art into fashion and architecture.
