Cooking blogs emerge biggest winner at Singapore Blog Awards 2015

Singapore, 23 July 2015 - The Singapore Blog Awards, omy.sg's annual flagship event and one of Singapore's biggest blogging events, unveiled the most outstanding blogs and favourite influencers of the year at F.Club Singapore tonight, with cooking blogs emerging as the biggest winners.

The Domestic Goddess Wannabe won the “Best Cooking Blog” and “Most Popular Cooking Blog” titles by sharing innovative and delectable recipes for steamed chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, home made kaya and steamed pork ribs with fermented black beans. She walked away with a steam convection oven and breadmaker worth up to $2,000 in total.

Clinching the “Best Topical Blog” award was Little Miss Bento, who won judges' hearts with her strong niche, passion and creativity.  Little Miss Bento was also one of the Top 10 Most Popular Blogs for the awards, and blog owner Shirley Wong walked away with prizes worth up to $1,300.

“Rascal Dads” stood out as unconventional parenting blog
Every year since the “Best Family Blog” category was introduced, most participating blogs are managed by mothers. This year, there was only one finalist in this category that is managed solely by fathers. Rascal Dads - “Singapore's most twisted and only bilingual parenting blog” - competed with 9 other bloggers for the Best Family Blog Award, and succeeded in clinching the title.

PM Lee is the Favourite Twitter Influencer
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's Twitter (@LeeHsienLoong) emerged as the ultimate Twitter Influencer after four weeks of voting by the public.
On the video front, this year’s Favourite YouTube Channel winner was “Wah!Banana”. Jeanette Aw and Super Junior's Choi Siwon won the “Favourite Celebrity Instagram” in the local and overseas categories respectively.

Into its 8th year, the Awards continued to honour “new-age wordsmiths” who devote their time and energy to create and maintain informative and innovative blogs, as well as give recognition to bloggers who have developed their own writing specialties through award categories in areas such as Beauty, Health & Wellness, and Travel.

Ms Low Yen Ling, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Social and Family Development & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Mayor, South West District and Member of Parliament, Chua Chu Kang GRC (Bukit Gombak) was the Guest of Honour for the awards ceremony.

The Awards also crowned 10 blogs which received the highest number of votes during the voting period from 9 June to 6 July, regardless of contesting categories, as the inaugural “Top 10 Most Popular Blogs” of the year. They were among a total of 27 award titles that were given out this year.

Each winner of the 9 Editors’/Judges’ Choice categories received a Singapore Blog Awards trophy designed by Singapore Cultural Medallion recipient Mr. Tan Swie Hian, along with prizes worth over $1,200.

Singapore Blog Awards 2015 was presented by Panasonic Singapore, sponsored by LG Electronics Singapore, and supported by SPH Digital.
