Singapore, 21 July 2015 ---Lianhe Zaobao, the Chinese flagship newspaper of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), has launched a commemorative book in Chinese called "A Tribute to Lee Kuan Yew". The book, which is supported by Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) and Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA), was launched by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at Shangri-La Hotel today. "A Tribute to Lee Kuan Yew" commemorates the life and legacy of founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who dedicated his life's work to building Singapore. With the launch of this commemorative book, Lianhe Zaobao hopes to remember this great man's illustrious life by documenting the legacy he left behind. The objective of publishing the book is also to promote national education. A copy of the book was presented to Guest of Honour PM Lee at the launch. The book consisted of the following main sections which cover the major milestones of Mr Lee's life: Growing Up Years (1923 - 1940)The Struggle to Independence (1950 - 1965)The 12 Policies which Changed Singapore (1965 - 1990)After the Power Handover (1990 - 2011)The Demise of the Great Man (23/03/2015 - 29/03/2015)The 248-page book is edited by Ms Chee Li Foong, Copy Editor of Lianhe Zaobao, who spent three months editing and curating the content, based on information from books written by the late Mr Lee, as well as news reports about him published in both local and international media.The editorial team from Lianhe Zaobao, while mourning the loss of a great man together with the rest of Singapore, continued to provide dedicated and outstanding coverage during the week of mourning. Mr Goh Sin Teck, Editor of Lianhe Zaobao, said: "We witnessed how the entire nation mourned the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew which is a testament of the amount of respect and gratitude for the great man.
