Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore launches the inaugural Art Prize 2015 competition, targeting emerging artists, in partnership with Robinsons

Singapore, 21 July 2015 – Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore is delighted to announce the inaugural launch of Harper’s BAZAAR Art Prize 2015. Organised in partnership with Robinsons, Singapore’s leading retail store, the competition aims to discover emerging artists above 16 years of age, with a passion for painting, sculpture and photography. 

The winner will receive a cash prize of S$10,000, in addition to an opportunity to exhibit and sell the completed art works at Robinsons for three weeks in January 2016.

Entries will be judged by a distinguished panel of judges: Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore Editor-in-Chief, Kenneth Goh; Group Managing Director of Robinsons Group Singapore, Christophe Cann; Founder and Director of Art Stage Singapore, Lorenzo Rudolf; Director of Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (ICA Singapore), Bala Starr; Fine Arts Programme Leader at LASALLE College of the Arts, Hazel Lim; and Director of Singapore Art Museum, Susie Lingham.  

Art has always been an intrinsic part of the Harper’s BAZAAR DNA and it is something that has constantly been at the core of the brand. For the past 14 years, Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore has launched numerous initiatives and projects to support and inspire the next wave of talents—from photography to fashion design, and now, art.  

Harper’s  BAZAAR’s Editor-in-Chief Mr. Kenneth Goh shares his vision for the project: “Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore has always had a longstanding tradition of seeking out, and nurturing, new creative talents. This competition stays true to that spirit by providing emerging artists an opportunity to showcase their abilities, and to take their vision to the next level.” 

The Harper’s BAZAAR Art Prize competition, themed “Uniquely Asian,” is open to artists residing in Singapore. Entrants can participate in any of the following four categories: ink on paper; oil on canvas; photography; or sculpture. The submitted artworks will be judged on originality, concept, coherence and relevance to the theme.
