Singapore, 25 June 2015 --- As AsiaOne celebrates its 20th anniversary, Singapore's premier, free-access news and lifestyle content aggregator by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) has unveiled a refreshed website with a new look, more navigation features and deeper content. The brand-new AsiaOne (www.asiaone.com) will offer more value to its readers and advertisers.
AsiaOne has been in the business of providing readers with a one-stop destination for premium content from over eight national newspapers, including The Straits Times, The Business Times, as well as numerous magazines and top-ranking websites. The new site will ramp up its offerings of fresh and up-to-date content by carrying stories and news from publications outside of SPH.
For the first time, over 20 new magazine titles, publications, and web-only content sites, including The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Nikkei Asian Review, Vulcan Post will now be readable on AsiaOne, making the site truly a one-stop destination for news and lifestyle stories.
This new iteration of the AsiaOne website is part of its rebranding campaign to keep AsiaOne relevant and topmost in the hearts and minds of its readers.
To make such deeper content easily accessible, the new website now has an improved menu for fuss-free navigation and better content display. A cleaner interface and use of more pictures will help to keep readers clicking, while more stories can be seen at a glance, providing readers with greater choice as they browse the site.
The new AsiaOne homepage will also carry attractive infographics and trending topics to give helpful summaries of issues that are important to keep online readers engaged and informed.
Customisation of the website is now possible too. Readers can keep favourite news sections open, or choose to hide them, so they can spend more time on stories they enjoy.
With social media such a big part of readers' news consumption patterns, AsiaOne has added more prominent social media buttons for sharing purposes - 'sticky' buttons that stay on the page as readers scroll through stories. It is now easier to share news and issues that are breaking and important.
The site has also kept up with hardware upgrades in the market. As screens get bigger and high-definition technology improves, the width of AsiaOne's website has been expanded, making it optimised for all screen widths. Articles have been redesigned to be more mobile-friendly, allowing easy reading and sharing on all devices to give users a more satisfying experience.
Finally, with content curation at the heart of what AsiaOne does, due recognition is given to its content partners and contributors. Readers will be able to see immediately which publications they are reading from, without having to navigate out of the AsiaOne environment. This dual purpose serves convenience to readers and provides greater recognition of the site's content partners.
Mr Adrian Tay, Editor of AsiaOne, said: "Just one week into our soft launch, we are happy to receive feedback from new audiences on our updated website, complimenting its fresh and more direct design and a layout with more intuitive navigation, making the new site very refreshing.
"This is very encouraging for the AsiaOne team which has been working on the design and incorporating the value-added features."
Advertisers will also like AsiaOne's offerings. They can now avail themselves to new native advertising choices with offerings like BrandInsider. BrandInsider is a targeted content marketing product which helps to deliver campaign messages through content that is valued by readers within well-loved sections such as AsiaOne Business and various lifestyle sections.
When making ad buys, AsiaOne's newly mobile-optimised pages is a boon for advertisers. Standardised ad sizes for desktop, mobile browsers, smartphone and tablet applications allow one ad to be run across all AsiaOne products, making cross-platform media buys a seamless affair.
Ms. Joanna Ash, Head of Brand and Corporate Communications at AIA Singapore said: "The design and layout of the new AsiaOne website are forward-looking, with much clearer visuals than before. These features make AsiaOne compelling for readers and advertisers like us."
Mr Lin Xuanbin, 28, loves the new mobile-responsive layout on his phone. The new design means the digital marketer doesn't need to pinch or zoom the screen to read articles or view photos anymore.
Another fan of the new look is 19-year-old psychology student, Nazeera Othman. Calling the revamp superb and refreshing, she said AsiaOne now stands out from other news sites. "The new website functions better now. It is more direct, easier to navigate, and is something fresh," she added.
The redesign of AsiaOne's new website follows the update of its award-winning mobile apps that were launched on 30 April.
