Sphere Conferences organise 3rd annual Real Estate Show Myanmar 2015

Singapore, 23 June 2015 – Sphere Conferences, the conference arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH), today announced that the annual Real Estate Show Myanmar (RESM) will be returning to Yangon for the third time. With support from the Ministry of Construction and Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UFMCCI), the Real Estate Show Myanmar 2015 will be held from 3 to 5 August 2015.

After Myanmar reopened its doors in 2010, Asia’s final frontier has attracted a vast interest from investors and developers. This year alone, there are 47 construction tenders and projects in the pipeline to be carried out. Urbanisation is growing rapidly in Myanmar and by the year 2030, urbanisation growth in Myanmar is expected to reach 33%. This evidently reflects the growing demand for better infrastructure and the built environment.

This year, RESM 2015 is reformatted to incorporate two new tracks: Retail, and Myanmar Urban and City Planning. Myanmar has been identified as one of the new markets offering the most opportunities for consumer goods and retail. Its population has been steadily growing, albeit slowly over the years. With its recent economic growth, it is anticipated that almost half of the population will fall within the middle class range by 2020, thereby increasing potential consumer expenditure.

The three-day conference is a gateway for developers, investors, urban planners, retailers as well as the local authorities to come together to holistically address the opportunities and challenges facing the urban and real estate development in Myanmar today. These aspects of development in the country will undoubtedly bring about a more conducive environment for development in other areas like retail and leisure, thereby bringing about economic progress and an improvement in the overall standard of living.

Key issues that will be discussed at the conference include:

· Law and regulations – identifying where the investment opportunities are
· Building sustainably for the future
· Deciphering investor and land owner dynamics
· Urban build and transport infrastructure
· Harnessing technology to boost construction efficiency
· Retail trends in Myanmar
· Housing in Myanmar
· Brick & mortar vs eTail

Ms. Patricia Cheong, General Manager of Sphere Conferences, said: “We are proud to be holding the third Real Estate Show Myanmar and delighted to be returning once again to facilitate meaningful exchange and interaction amongst industry peers in the region. This is the platform where industry practitioners are able to get firsthand insights into Myanmar’s burgeoning sectors of real estate, retail and urban development. This allows them to capitalise on the available opportunities and make important connections with keen decision makers in Myanmar.”
