It’s fun galore at Beerfest Asia 2015

- Revellers at Beerfest Asia 2015 can look forward to new comedy acts, live music acts from Australia and the inaugural Great Beerfest Beer Pong Tournament

Singapore, 4 June 2015 - Revellers to this year’s Beerfest Asia which is taking place from 25 to 28 June 2015 at the Marina Promenade (the F1 tracks behind Singapore Flyer) can look forward to stand-up comedy acts from Australia, Malaysia and Singapore as part of its Beerfest Comedy Club segment, as well as The Great Beerfest Beer Pong Tournament and more live music acts.

There will be four daily comedy shows on Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 June 2015 with an extra show on Thursday 25 June 2015.

One of the daily comedy shows is fronted by renowned magician-comedian Patrick McCullagh, who was born in Ireland but now based in Australia. He will bring a unique show blending internet technology, magic and comedy that debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe and has enthralled audiences across Europe and Asia.

Another comedy act not to be missed is Jonathan Atherton, touted as Australian’s most travelled comedian. A seasoned globetrotter with a flair for rapid fire monologues in multiple languages, he has performed stand-up comedy gigs in London, Amsterdam, New York and many Asian cities.

The ever-popular Singapore versus Malaysia Comedy Cup which pits two Singapore and two Malaysia comedians in a battle of comedic wit and banter is back again. Having sold out every single show during Beerfest Asia 2014, it is not to be missed.

Singapore can boast of two of its best talents from the local comedy scene with Fakkah Fuzz and Jinx Yeo, both of whom have garnered accolades in Singapore and the region. Fakkah Fuzz is one of the fastest rising talents and has performed in local open mics and shows for the last five years. In 2012, Fakkah spearheaded and headlined a local stand up comedy show called “Sons Of Singapore” which he headlined and produced and he also co-headlined the Comedy Week at Singapore’s biggest stand-up comedy circuit with The Comedy Club Asia. In 2013, Fuzz made his regional debut performing in Hong Kong, Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Jinx Yeo’s unique style of humour won him the
first runner-up spot at the 2011 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition. He has shared the stage as a supporting act with comedy heavyweights such as Emo Philips, Arj Barker, Paul Ogata, as well as Hollywood star and "Saturday Night Live" veteran Rob Schneider. He has performed in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, China, as well as at the famous Melbourne Comics Lounge, and the Sydney Comedy Festival in 2013.

Fakkah and Jinx can expect to face stiff comedic competition from two of Malaysia’s most notable comedy acts. One of them is Kavin Jay, the country’s most underrated comic. He is known for his rapid-fire grumpy jokes and has played an integral part in the comedy revolution in Malaysia as a regular host and performer for TimeOut KL Comedy Thursday.  Joining Kavin is Rizal van Geyzel offering his special brand of humour touches – with gentle and sometimes not-so-gentle jabs on personal topics as well as observations on Malaysian life. His mix of Malay, Chinese, Turkish and Dutch ancestry gives him the insights and perspective to poke fun of the various quirks of multicultural Malaysia.

The Panel Show – The Last Laugh is a brand new comedy show featuring all of the comedians of Beerfest Comedy Club. A show where comedians compete to see who will truly have the last laugh, it is played out in a competitive game show format with two teams of comedians pitted against each other in a battle of wits, genius, and hilarity. Watch them as they play for laughs (and points!) and the audience get to decide which team walks away in victory.

More new music acts have been lined up for Beerfest Asia 2015. As part of the Singapore-Western Australian Music (SWAM) Exchange programme, three Western Australian music acts will be making their debut at Beerfest Asia.  SWAM, a first of its kind cross-cultural regional music exchange programme,  provides three Singaporean artistes/bands the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Western Australia Music Festival. In exchange, three Western Australian artistes/bands have been invited to perform at Beerfest Asia. The three bands are:

Foreign Architects – made up of just Matt Burke and his drummer cousin, Andrew Barnett. They have a big, powerful sound unlike any two-person band you’ve heard before. They have accumulated commercial airplay and is also supported by Australian music industry heavyweights such as Eskimo Joe.

Jack And The Cowboys (JATC) - With inspiration deriving from Credence Clear Water Revival, Jimi Hendrix and many more, JATC touch on issues such as marriage, substance abuse, trauma, love and loss in their music. This, combined with musicianship and a knack for musical sense and sound, makes their raw vocals and infectious melodies a live performance not to be missed.

The China Blue Experiment - a blues/pop act with wide reaching influences and eclectic styles. The band has been touring on the back of their second EP Insomnia to wide acclaim. The live show is stunning and passionate and offers a captivating experience.

Besides the entertainment on stage, there is also off-stage fun with The Great Beerfest Beer Pong Tournament. Beer pong has always been a casual affair at Beerfest Asia but this is the first time that The Great Beerfest Beer Pong Tournament will be officiated.

Beer pong is played by two teams of players who have to throw a ping pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in a cup of beer on the other end. If a ball lands in the cup, the losing team will have to forfeit by drinking the cup of beer. The winning team is the one that has most of its cups of beer untouched.

This is an open call to interested participants to form teams of two to compete for bragging rights, cash prizes and a  trophy. To register, email with your team members’ details.

More beers and ciders have also been announced for Beerfest Asia 2015. This year, expect to see more draft brews for that fresh, straight-from-the-tap taste. New exhibitor and home-grown beer retailer Smith Street Taps is bringing in an astonishing 32 varieties of craft beers on tap from the USA, UK, Japan and Europe. Other returning exhibitors include TSA Wines have also upped their game with half of their products available in kegs form too.
