Sphere Conferences launches the Hospitality Investment Conference Indian Ocean 2015

Singapore, 25 May 2015 – Sphere Conferences, the conference arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH), today launched the Hospitality Investment Conference Indian Ocean (HICIO) 2015.  The region’s only hospitality investment conference is supported by the Board of Investment Sri Lanka and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. It will be held at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 25 to 26 May 2015

This two-day conference attracts over 150 developers, operators and owners of hospitality properties, as well as investors, financiers, designers and technology providers from across the region. It provides the platform for discussions and debates on the opportunities offered by the growing hospitality and tourism markets in the Indian Ocean – the Maldives, Mauritius, the Seychelles and Sri Lanka.

One of the key highlights of HICIO 2015 is Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Finance of Sri Lanka, sharing his insights on how the government is facilitating investment and economic development within the country, thereby propelling Sri Lanka towards a new era. The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), Mr. P.M. Withana, will also be sharing how the SLTDA is transforming Sri Lanka into Asia’s foremost tourism destination.

Another highlight is Hon. Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor, Minister of Tourism of the Maldives speaking on the Maldives maintaining its position on the world map. The potential of the Indian Ocean region is made evident by the presence of key hospitality names like the Banyan Tree Group, Blink Design Group, Browns Investments PLC, C9 Hotelworks, Centara International Management, Crown Co. Pvt. Ltd., HPL Hotels, Jetwing Hotels Ltd, Jones Lang LaSalle, IDeaS – A SAS Company, InterContinental Hotels Group, Minor Hotel Group, ONYX Hospitality Group, QUO, Regent Hotels & Resorts, Ryan Lawyers, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Sun Hotels & Resorts. The industry leaders share expert insights and experiences in the hope of reaching greater heights and depth within the region’s hospitality sector.

Ms. Patricia Cheong, General Manager of Sphere Conferences said: “The common denominator in these key Indian Ocean markets is growth in arrival numbers in recent years – which is a clear indicator of an increasing demand for rooms. With such a positive outlook, we are certain that the Indian Ocean’s hospitality markets will be some of those to watch in Asia in the years to come. And it is our aim to make Hospitality Investment Conference Indian Ocean the mainstay event amongst the region’s hospitality stakeholders.”
