Lianhe Zaobao launches keepsake e-book remembering the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Singapore, 22 May 2015 – Lianhe Zaobao, the Chinese flagship newspaper of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), launches a Chinese language e-book “Dian Cang Guang Yao”(典藏光耀,Lee Kuan Yew – Final Farewell), a keepsake edition of the best news coverage in Lianhe Zaobao during the mourning period of Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew. 
The content of this 52-page interactive e-book is specially curated from Zaobao’s print and digital platforms. It includes essays, interviews, video clips and a picture collection comprising more than 100 photographs, some of which have never been published before. 

The e-book also includes commentaries written by former Member of Parliament, Mr Goh Choon Kang and many experienced Lianhe Zaobao journalists. 

Articles written by Education Minister Mr Heng Swee Keat (“Mr Lee’s Red Box”) and Dr Lee Wei Ling, as well as an excerpt of the 2013 video interview with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on his father are also included. 

Mr Goh Sin Teck, Editor of Lianhe Zaobao, said: "The passing of Mr Lee marks the end of an era and the national mourning of Mr Lee has formed part of Singaporean’s collective memory. This special collection of essays, photo spreads and commentaries helps to capture emotions and memories of the week following 23 March. It is also a keepsake of history for us as journalists.”

Ms Han Yong May, Associate Editor cum News Editor of Lianhe Zaobao, said: “Zaobao published a special 16-page print edition as a tribute to Mr Lee on the day of his passing. Many readers have requested us to do a special commemorative edition that they could keep. This e-book is our attempt at a collection that encapsulates the outpouring of respect, gratitude and emotions of Singaporeans during the national mourning that will not turn yellow
 with time.”

This e-book, made possible by the sponsorship of Temasek Holdings, is free for download on iPad and Android tablet. 

To download:
1. iPad: Go to Apple App store and type “dian-cang-guang-yao” to search for the e-book. Download it onto your iPad.
2. Android tablet: Go to Google Play store and type “zaobao.lky” to search fror the e-book. Download it onto your tablet.

The app is designed to work on iPad devices running on iOS 6 and above. Users are advised to use a Wi-Fi connection to download the app due to its file size (272MB). It may take up to 6 minutes to complete the download.
