The opening ceremony is officiated by Guest of Honour Dr Lam Pin Min, Minister-of-State, Ministry of Health and MP and Grassroots Advisor for Sengkang West GROs, together with Dr Lee Boon Yang, Chairman of SPH,Mr Tony Mallek, Chairman of The Seletar Mall Pte Ltd and Mr Roy Tan, Group CFO of United Engineers Limited. More than 200 invited guests including tenants and partners of The Seletar Mall attended the event. The family-oriented mall, with 100% occupancy, houses over 130 shops. Merit in BCA Design and Engineering Safety Excellent Awards (DESEA) 2015 The Seletar Mall is awarded Merit in the commercial category of the BCA Design and Engineering Safety Excellent Award, presented by Building and Construction Authority (BCA) this month. The award gives recognition to the Qualified Person for Structural Works’ firm and the project team for ingenious design processes and solutions in overcoming project challenges to ensure safety in design, construction and maintenance of building and civil engineering projects locally and overseas.Er. Kam Mun Wai (Qualified Person) and Meinhardt (Singapore) Pte Ltd (C&S Consultant) used full top down method constructing basements and superstructure concurrently to overcome the challenge of deep excavation of 22m for 5 basements and shortened the construction duration by six months. Confined site and in close proximity to LRT Station, viaducts, public housing, schools and services, and excavation and construction within LTA Railway Protection Zone also posed challenges to the architects. The solutions and features used include robust earth retaining and stabilising structure adopting diaphragm wall and ring slabs for top down excavation and precast façade panel that eliminated external scaffolding, enhanced buildability and provided a safer working environment.Attached:
