Beerfest Asia 2015 to unveil new beers and new entertainment acts 

Singapore, 15 May 2015 – Beerfest Asia 2015 will once again demonstrate that it is the region’s premier beer and lifestyle event by showcasing more than 400 beers at this year’s event. These beers, which hail from countries such as Germany, United States and Czech Republic, include some  which will be making their debut exclusively at Beerfest Asia 2015, as well as their first foray into the Asia markets. 

This year marks the seventh year of Beerfest Asia, positioned as Singapore's premier beer festival, targeting both industry players and consumers. This four-day festival is organised by Beerfest Asia Pte Ltd, which is co-owned by Sphere Exhibits Pte Ltd and Timbre Group. Sphere Exhibits is the events and exhibitions arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) while Timbre Group is the music lifestyle company behind the chain of Timbre live music bars, festivals and music academies.

This year's event will be held from 25 to 28 June 2015 at the Marina Promenade (the F1 tracks behind Singapore Flyer) and is presented by United Overseas Bank Ltd (UOB).

New product highlights at this year’s event include - 

Chaoying Company is one of the exhibitors taking part in Beerfest Asia for the first time. It will be showcasing Flensburger beers from Germany which have been brewed with water that originates from the North Scandinavian underground glacier flow. The distinctive ‘plop' sound when the bottle is opened has long become the Flensburg trademark and stands for unique freshness and the good taste of Flensburg beers. Other Flensburg beers on show include Flensburger Dunkel which is a fine bitter, fresh and rich in taste; and the Flensburger Gold which is a rich-tasting mild beer with a sophisticated hint of hops and brewed with light caramel malt. 

Singapore’s first craft cider distributor The Mad Tapper is also making its debut at Beerfest Asia with real ciders made with juice from fresh fruits. These include the Revival Hard Apple which is a semi-dry sparkling hard cider made from the best apples, grinded and cold pressed; and the Hallelujah Hopricot which is a complex concoction of flavours - ranging from apples, Belgian saison yeast and witbier 8 spices (coriander, bitter orange peel, seeds of paradise, star anise), Oregon grown Cascade hops and a splash of apricot juice.

Another debutant BeerCellar Asia will be promoting its range of Veltins beers from Germany. Veltins is ranked third among Germany's best-selling premium breweries with its Pilsner (available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions) and its premium Grevensteiner Original. The Veltins Pilsner is a bright golden yellow beer with a mixture of smells that are hoppy, spicy, slightly malty sweet, and refreshingly different, while the Grevensteiner Original is a naturally cloudy beer that looks rustic and traditional. It is amber and cloudy with a lasting head, yet smells delicious and full-bodied, due to the nutty flavour of malt.   

From established returning exhibitor East of Avalon Wines comes the Iron Trooper Maiden, a British ale developed by Bruce Dickinson himself - lead singer of Iron Maiden and lifelong fan of traditional ale - and handcrafted at the Robinsons Brewery in the United Kingdom. 

And for beer-fans who crave for something lighter, the ABK Rose brought in by Wunderbar LLP with its concoction of light ABK Beer and organic lemonade with a 100% natural rose colour is another great choice to beat Singapore’s hot weather. 

Tasting portions of beer will be available at Beerfest Asia for the first time for a nominal price of between $1 - $2. Festival goers will receive a plastic sampling cup that they can reuse to purchase tasting portions (50ml/70ml) from different exhibitors.

Beerfest Asia has grown in size and stature over the years, with last year’s event attracting a sell-out crowd of over 30,000 participants. 

Visitors to Beerfest Asia 2015 can look forward to more than 18 bands including six tribute acts including the maiden appearance of Lez Zeppelin, an all-girl Led Zeppelin tribute band from New York City, USA. Founded in 2004, the band’s reputation for playing Zeppelin’s music with a kind of passion and force beyond anyone’s expectations attracted major interest from press and industry right from the start. Lez Zeppelin is truly the authentic female equivalent to one of the greatest rock music groups of all time.

Singaporean musicians will also be featured prominently during the four-day event. These include the Rock Rosettes, the all-girl four member Singaporean band made up of Zsa on vocals, Ivy on drums, Jo on Guitar and Lyndsey on bass.  They will be performing original rock songs and rock covers with a feminine and edgy sound in tribute to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.  

Welcome to the Machine is a Pink Floyd tribute band that was formed in 2013 by Steven Naarden on vocals, Lim Kiang on bass, Yuk Yong on keyboards, Noel Ong on guitar, David Baptista on guitar and Laurence Bucci on drums.

Others on the bill include Sweatshop Jam, New Stream Bras Band, Raw Earth, The Day Trippers and many more which will be announced in due course. 

Beerfest Asia 2015 promises a holistic experience for the casual social drinker as well as the serious beer connoisseurs. Visitors will also stand a chance to win prizes when they participate in exciting games and festival activities during the four days of festivities.

It has come on board as an Official Partner to present masterclasses for food and beverage professionals as well as business owners during the festival.
