Singapore, 11 May 2015 – SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (SPH Magazines) was a big winner at the MPAS Awards 2015 held yesterday evening at The Fullerton Hotel. The annual awards, organised by the Media Publishers Association Singapore (MPAS), recognise outstanding and creative work produced by the magazine publishing industry in Singapore.
The publisher won a total of 16 awards, nine more than the seven that it won last year. Of these, eight titles received top honours in their respective categories.
SPH Magazines' luxury title, The Peak, was the biggest winner, bagging a total of four top awards - three of which were in the prestigious "Brand Awards" category. The Peak was named Luxury Media of the Year, reinforcing the magazine's position as the market leader in the luxury lifestyle category. The Peak has chronicled many of Singapore's greatest success stories and continues to be the go-to read on luxury lifestyle for a discerning and distinguished readership comprising captains of industry and high-net-worth-readers. The Peak's quarterly spin off title, The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel, won Food Media of the Year for the second year running. Gourmet & Travel is the definitive and authoritative guide on the best of food, wine and travel. The magazine has already won many accolades and awards since its inception five years ago. Also produced by The Peak, "30/30 - The Game Changers", an exclusive coffee table book, was a co-winner in the Special Edition of the Yearcategory. The limited edition 240-page book was published last year in celebration of The Peak's 30th anniversary and documented the success stories of 30 outstanding men and women. In addition, The Peak was named winner for Print Photography of the Year in the spread "Elements of Style".
SPH Magazines also proved its mettle as Singapore's leading publisher in fashion media and in women’s media.
Harper’s Bazaar, the go-to-guide for Singapore's best dressed women, was named Fashion Media of the Year and Female, Singapore's leading fashion and beauty magazine, also received a Merit award.
It was also a clean sweep for SPH Magazines in the Women’s Media of the Year category, where The Singapore Women’s Weekly was named the winner while Her World won a Merit award. The Singapore Women's Weekly is a must read for busy Singapore women who need practical solutions and trusted advice on how to juggle family and career. Her World is Singapore's most-read women's magazine and the voice of the stylish achiever.Harper's Bazaar and Her World won other accolades as well. Two feature articles – “Man of Honour” inHarper’s Bazaar Man and “Our Fun Hobbies Paid Off” in Her World September 2014 issue – were named as a co-winner and merit prize winner respectively in the Consumer Feature Article of the Year category.
Harper's Bazaar picked up its third award, a Merit award for Front Cover of the Year (Consumer) for its Harper's Bazaar Art January 2014 edition.
SPH Magazines' tech website HardwareZone.com won in the Online Photography of the Year category for "In Search of Old Japan".
The win reaffirmed HardwareZone's goal in telling both a visual and personal story that cuts across a variety of readers, and to capture the emotions experienced about a particular place.
Additional merit awards were won by women's lifestyle network herworldPLUS (www.herworldplus.com),SilverKris, the travel magazine of Singapore Airlines and Shape in the Social Media Campaign of the Year, In-Flight Media of the Year and the Health/Fitness/Sports Media of the Year categories respectively. Shape is Singapore's complete mind and body guide for women. Launched in Singapore in 2004 and licensed from US publisher, Meredith, Shape has been motivating and inspiring women to lead an active, healthy lifestyle for over 10 years.
The award-winning titles and websites are all leaders in their respective fields of topical interests and targeted readership segments.
SPH Magazines was also presented with a merit award for Media Publishing Company of the Year.
