The Business Times Leadership Conference 2015

This year's conference is held in commemoration of Albert Winsemius, Singapore's economic advisor in the 1960s and 1970s

Singapore, 30 March 2015 – The Netherlands Embassy and The Business Times are jointly presenting The Business Times Leadership Conference 2015 on Tuesday, 31 March 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. The theme of this year’s conference is “Leadership in Sustainability: How Singapore is shaping its future economic policies and business practices”.

For its economic success over the last 50 years, Singapore owes a debt of gratitude to the late Dutch economist Dr. Albert Winsemius (1910-1996), who was a trusted adviser to the government and a visionary, out-of-the-box thinker. Dr Winsemius presented a radical 10-year blueprint to transform Singapore from an entrepot trade port to a premier manufacturing centre in Asia, the biggest base for multinational enterprises in the region.

This half-day dialogue will feature reflections on the Winsemius legacy by distinguished Singapore policymakers, Dr. Ng Pock Too, Mr. Ngiam Tong Dow and Mr. S. Dhanabalan.

The Guest of Honour is Dr. Winsemius' son, Prof Dr. Pieter Winsemius, who had travelled specially from The Netherlands to grace this event. A former Dutch Minister, Prof. Dr. Pieter Winsemius will address the issue of sustainable development.

Mr. Lim Siong Guan, President of GIC Private Limited, will also deliver a keynote address on sustainability and leadership in economic transformation processes.

This will be followed by a panel discussion involving companies from both Singapore and The Netherlands. The panelists will discuss on the topic "Looking ahead to the next 50 years" and exchange views on sustainability in business practices.

The Business Times Leadership Conference 2015 is sponsored by Members of the Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition (AkzoNobel, DSM, FrieslandCampina, Heineken, KLM, Philips, Shell Eastern Petroleum and Unilever) and Rabobank.
