Hospitality Investment Conference Indonesia 2015

Singapore, 18 March 2015 - Sphere Conferences, the conference arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) today announced the launch of the inaugural Hospitality Investment Conference Indonesia 2015, to be held from 12 to 13 May 2015 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia.

Catering to the rapid growth in Indonesia’s hospitality sector, the
 Hospitality Investment Conference Indonesia 2015 aims to bring in more than 250 attendees over 2 days. This conference provides a platform that convenes property developers, operators and owners of hospitality properties, as well as financiers and investors to discuss on the opportunities offered by the growing hospitality and tourism sector in Indonesia.

The key issues to be discussed at the conference include:

· the Indonesian hotel investment outlook in 2015;
· Indonesia’s hotel performance;
· key destination highlights within Indonesia;
· insights from Indonesia’s hospitality industry veterans;
· the blossoming of niche tourism within Indonesia
In 2014, Indonesia recorded 9.3 million international tourist arrivals and 251 million domestic tourist trips, clearly inching its way towards the ambitious target of 20 million international tourist arrivals and 275 domestic tourist trips set for 2019. With such commitment by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, the outlook is certainly optimistic for the hospitality sector in the archipelago.

Indonesia-wide data from STR Global (YE 2014) saw an increasing IDR RevPAR of 4.3% due to 6.9% increases in ADR. In Bali, both occupancy and ADR were up YoY with a resultant RevPAR increase of 7.5%. Jakarta on the other hand, suffered a 6.5% fall in occupancy in 2014, with IDR ADR up 7.1% resulting in a marginal improvement in year end RevPAR. IDR currency fluctuations are wreaking havoc with USD RevPAR, down 7.2% YE 2014 across Indonesia.

Mr Matt Gebbie, Director, Pacific Asia, Horwath HTL, said: “New supply is putting the squeeze on performance and coupled with a reduction in government MICE business belt tightening is de rigueur for hoteliers in the first quarter of 2015. The good news is the improvement in IDR ADR which has kept RevPAR solid.”

Ms Patricia Cheong, General Manager of Sphere Conferences, said: “We are glad to have this opportunity to work with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia in organising this conference. With engaging panel discussions and successful case studies, Hospitality Investment Conference Indonesia 2015 will be the perfect platform for hospitality leaders to exchange ideas, collaborate and do business in one of Asia’s fastest growing markets.”
