Stronger participation from CLMV region Myanmar’s construction industry is growing exponentially due to the country’s rising population and strong economic growth. The construction industry registered a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.52 per cent from 2009 to 2013. In the second quarter of 2014 alone, the Yangon City Development Committee approved the construction of more than 1,000 high and low-rise buildings in the city, two times more than the number of approved construction projects in 2013.The Myanmar Ministry of Construction targets to build more than one million houses in the period of 20 years to meet the demand for residential real estate. In addition, the development of Special Economic Zones in Myanmar will further drive urbanisation and the construction of new production facilities.
