Manufacturing Solutions Expo 2014 spearheads growth through innovation and productivity

-  Exhibitor showcase and conference address growing demand for fully integrated capabilities needs, in line with robust market interest and growing presence in Southeast Asia

8 October 2014, Singapore – Manufacturing Solutions Expo 2014 (MSE 2014) opens today with an exciting showcase of innovation-led solutions by some 100 exhibiting brands from around the region at Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, Halls 401-403, from 8 to 10 October

Held as part of the National Productivity Month and jointly organised by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and Sphere Exhibits, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings, MSE 2014 is part of Singapore Manufacturing Federation’s efforts at supporting the national initiative to drive productivity across industrial sectors.  The trade show was graced by Guest of Honour, Mr S. Iswaran, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister, Ministry of Trade and Industry.  

MSE 2014 is the first of its kind in Singapore that targets across the entire value chain, offering relevant solutions to specific challenges within the manufacturing industry. Categorised into six unique segments, these solutions reflect the various stages in the manufacturing value chain: enterprise system, consultancy, resources management, industrial automation consisting of 3D printing, robotics and precision engineering, transport and logistics, packaging and storage, and upgrading solutions.  Targeted at manufacturing professionals, policy makers and business leaders, this highly anticipated trade exhibition showcases the industry’s best ideas, innovative technologies and cost effective solutions to raise productivity within the entire value chain of the manufacturing sector.

Spanning across 6000 square metres, over 3000 trade and professional visitors from Singapore and around the region are expected to visit the trade fair to establish new business partnerships, network and engage potential distribution agents with some 100 exhibiting brands from around the region over the three-day event. The diverse solutions presented at this trade exhibition are applicable across a diverse range of industries such as building and construction, chemical, energy, food and beverage, oil and gas, retail and merchandising.

Transform to perform 

Held over two days, the Singapore Innovation & Productivity Conference (SIPC) 2014 will feature more than eight top-notch industrialists, academics and researchers with an exciting pipeline of plenary and panel sessions to share and exchange their knowledge and experience. Themed “Transform to Perform”, SIPC focuses on the need for companies to transform through innovation and productivity to achieve business growth and sustainability.

Organised by the Singapore Innovation and Productivity Institute (SiPi), a Centre of Excellence under SMF, the conference will feature an extensive line-up of speakers including Mr. Douglas Foo, CEO of Sakae Holdings Ltd, Mr. Lai Ah Keow, President of Yokogawa Electric Asia Pte Ltd and Dr Wolfgang Baier, Group CEO of Singapore Post Ltd. In addition, findings from two SiPi-commissioned national studies – “The National Benchmarking Study on Productivity in Various Industries” and “Findings from The National Research Study on Business Model Innovation (BMI)”, will be presented during the conference. 

Another highlight of SIPC 2014 is the focus on BMI to transform the way business is done to create new competitive advantages. This conference serves as a platform for companies to learn more about BMI and the benefits they can reap from implementing innovative business models.

Exciting line-up of knowledge-based activities

The inaugural exhibition promises opportunities of networking, thought leadership, industry collaboration and sharing of ideas that inspire learning. Visitors will gain new perspectives that will enable them to adapt to the fast-changing industrial environment, as well as discover new technology trends and markets, given the rising demand for fully integrated capabilities.

In addition, there is a well-balanced showcase of academic projects from seven Centres of Innovation in the Emerging Solutions Showcase. Visitors can learn about the latest cutting edge and cost effective solutions covering electronics, supply chain management, environment and water, food, marine and offshore and precision engineering industries.

On 9 October, SMF will ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Japan Management Association to strengthen business relations and promote regional economic cooperation. The MOU presents an excellent platform for SMF and JMA to help their members to achieve productivity gains and business transformation through collaborations.

Manufacturing Solutions Expo is open from 8 to 10 October at Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre. Visitors are encouraged to register onsite during operational hours of the trade exhibition.
