Singapore, August 1, 2014 – herworldPLUS, Singapore’s leading women’s online network for fashion, shopping and beauty, has crowned the first Singapore Street Style Stars, after two and a half months of reviewing almost 2,000 entries.
Check out their final looks, style inspirations and watch them behind the scenes at http://streetstyleawards.herworldplus.com.This year’s Street Style Awards presenter was ALDO Singapore. The sponsors were Jean Yip Hairdressing and Canon Singapore, official radio station HOTFM 91.3 and award supporter The Lo & Behold Group. The super-stylish team of judges included Daniel Boey, one of Asia’s most sought-after fashion event producers and creative directors, and herworldPLUS editor Niki Bruce, known for her blue hair, obsession with shoes and fierce support of the Singapore fashion industry. Judges of the fringe awards include hair specialists at Jean Yip Hairdressing, photography experts at Canon Singapore and HOT FM91.3 DJs Charmaine Yee, Josh Simon, Cheryl Miles and Jill Lim.Niki Bruce said: “I’m so excited that we discovered two people with their own personal style – Karin and Gwen would look right at home in any global fashion capital with their unique looks.”Daniel Boey said: "Standing out in a crowd is not about how flamboyant or outrageous you can be, but about finding a style that flatters and suits you, which Karin does. It's about tasteful layering that compliments and accentuates without overpowering, and I love how he totally owns his look. I love how Gwen embraces a classic silhouette that flatters her figure, with clever, quirky design details, and adds matching, monochromatic accessories – she proves that classic doesn't have to be boring."Mervin Wee, founding chairman of Jean Yip Group, said:“Melissa’s hair looks soft and has a very nice texture. Her curls fall nicely and go so well with her look – like the ultimate accessory.” Joshua Simon, DJ at HOTFM 91.3, said:“Melissa’s style is bright, bold and striking! The team at HOTFM likes that in a Singapore fashionista! That's HOT!”The herworldPLUS Street Style Awards opened for submissions from late May 2014. The top 10 finalists were announced on July 3 for public votes until July 23, 2014. Official Website: http://streetstyleawards.herworldplus.comOfficial hashtag: #sgstreetstyleawards
