Top Ivy League universities in town for The Straits Times Recruit Scholarship & Top University Fair

Options galore for scholars from top overseas universities in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany

Singapore, 11 July – For one day only, Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) The Straits Times Recruit will be holding The Straits Times Recruit Scholarship & Top University Fair, the only event of its kind in Singapore. It will be held on 13 JulySunday, from 10am to 6pm at Suntec Singapore, Hall 403. Admission is free.

Featuring almost 40 universities and more than 20 scholarship boards, this year’s fair is the go-to event for outstanding candidates who are seeking scholarships to further their education. At the fair, attendees can explore a comprehensive range of options from prestigious universities from the US and UK, as well as Australia, Canada and Germany. 

Aspiring scholars can also visit the booths of top employers, whose scholarship boards are out in full force to attract the brightest and best candidates for their organisations. 
Employers include the Ministry of Home Affairs, MOH Holdings, National Council of Social Services, Navy Recruitment Centre, People’s Association, Singapore Press Holdings, Singapore Sports Council, Spring Singapore, Yale-NUS College, and more. 

The impressive line-up of universities at the Top University Fair includes five out of the eight Ivy League universities from the United States – namely Brown University, Harvard College, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania and Yale University – on top of Brown University, Carnegie Mellon University, Tufts University, TUHH (Hamburg University of Technology) and UNSW Australia. 

In addition, attendees can benefit from valuable tips and insights offered by students and official representatives from various universities. 

A series of seminars will also be conducted by official representatives from the United States Education Information Centre, Ivy Prep, Australian Trade Commission and the British Council. 

This exhibition is targeted at scholars-to-be as well as parents.

SPH has a 20 per cent stake in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd, which operates free-to-air channels 5, 8 and U, and a 40 per cent stake in MediaCorp Press Limited, which publishes the free newspaper, Today. 


Events and Out-of-Home Advertising

SPH’s events arm Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions as well as large scale conferences in Singapore and the region. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its digital out-of-home platform SPHMBO. 


Properties

SPH REIT is a Singapore-based REIT established principally to invest, directly or indirectly, in a portfolio of income-producing real estate which is used primarily for retail purposes in Asia-Pacific, as well as real estate-related assets. · Paragon, a premier upscale retail mall and medical suite/office property, well known for its upscale mall housing many luxury brands, located in the heart of Orchard Road; and
· The Clementi Mall, a mid-market suburban mall located in the centre of Clementi town, an established residential estate in the west of Singapore. 

The Seletar Mall is SPH's latest retail development and is expected to open at the end of 2014. This property is a potential asset to be injected into SPH REIT. SPH’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, also developed a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
