Singapore, 18 March 2014 - Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH), together with Singapore Athletics Association (SAA), will host the SPH Schools Relay Championships 2014 from 22-23 March 2014 at Choa Chu Kang stadium. Admission is free.
With more than 1,000 participants, 274 teams from 42 schools, the two days of intense competition will see participants compete in six categories.
Singapore Sports School will be looking to defend the Overall Champion Title which they won last year. It will be sending a strong field of 15 teams to compete in the various categories and events. Its star runners include Kugapriyad Chandran, Ismi Zakiah, Muhammad Syazani and Muhammad Shahrieza, all of which recorded fastest timings this year in their respective events and categories at the Singapore Youth & Junior Athletics Championships.
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) will field a total of 16 teams, while Raffles Institution and Chung Cheng High School (Main) will be represented by 15 teams and 12 teams respectively to vie for top honours. Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School, viewed as the underdog, will send 13 teams.
Another award that will be hotly contested for is the Tay Cheng Khoon Memorial Trophy. There was no winner last year as no records were broken.
