- Fans can now catch the latest in local football
Singapore, 19 February 2014 – Football fans can get all the latest scores with a glance at the homepage of The New Paper's revamped Football Kaki Live app for iOS and Android devices. Rebuilt from the ground up, the new interface makes getting around the app easier.
Sporting a fresh look and feel to match its new "live" moniker, TNP's free smartphone soccer application will also deliver the latest developments from the S.League, on top of its present offerings of English Premier League and Champions League content.
In partnership with the S.League, Football Kaki Live will provide the latest match updates and news from Singapore's local football competitions. Fans can also win weekly cash prizes in the S.League's Pick the Score section with nearly $15,000 up for grabs across the entire domestic season. Five fans who correctly guess the full-time score for designated S.League and Singapore Cup matches will each win $100 in the weekly contest.
TNP's sports reporters will deliver live commentary for selected S.League matches while fans can relive the action via post-match video highlights in the News section.
Mr Lim Chin, Chief Executive Officer, S.League, said: "Football Kaki is one of the best apps for football fans in Singapore and the S.League is proud to be a key partner with the new Football Kaki Live. With our new S.League section of the app, our fans can get even more information as well as match highlight videos from S.League. Five lucky fans who pick the right score can each win $100 every week. Download Football Kaki and support Our S.League."
As part of a complete overhaul, Football Kaki's new colour scheme was chosen to give the app a more energetic and vibrant feel. Besides the S.League section, other added features include social media functions for news stories, such as discuss or share the latest stories through Facebook and Twitter, statistics and a slick new way to navigate the app.
Mr S Murali, Deputy and Sports Editor, The New Paper, said: "TNP has always been a big supporter of local football and we have revamped Football Kaki, which won a gold at the Wan-Ifra Asian Digital Media Awards in 2010, so it can better serve our readers. With our partner, S.League, we continue to break new ground in the digital arena. The Pick the Score contest will also give cash value to readers. Apart from its brand new look, this iteration of Football Kaki has plenty of new features and we want the app to be our readers' best friend when it comes to football."
First conceived as a World Cup app for iPhone in June 2010 where it quickly rose to fourth spot on the local Apple App Store's list of free apps just one day after release, an Android version soon followed as Football Kaki's coverage was extended to the English Premier League and Uefa Champions League.
In 2012, a new Malaysia Cup section was introduced to follow the LionsXII's campaigns in the Malaysian Super League and Malaysia Cup.
Stay tuned for more leagues to be added to the app.
