SPH launches STClassifieds, a user-friendly general classifieds site for net-savvy users to buy and sell stuff with ease, and at no cost

Singapore, 29 October 2012 – Officially inaugurated on 30 October, Singapore Press Holdings' STClassifieds aims to provide a best-in-class platform for users to find whatever they need online, or sell stuff they do not need.

To better reach out to people of different demographics and profiles, the all-new STClassifieds has four categories - namely For Him, For Her, For Kids and For Household - to allow specific, interest-based search. There will also be thematic clusters to be launched, according to festive seasons and special occasions, in addition to current popular categories such as Fashion, Computer & Electronic and Home & Appliances.

In conjunction with the launch, STClassifieds will be hosting a series of events and promotions. Users can look out for special Hourly Deals for coveted products at all-time-low prices offered by a variety of merchants and partners. Some items include the new iPad, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy SIII and Kate Spade bags, which will be available at 30 per cent to 80 per cent of their retail prices, while stocks last. There will also be a special preview of the latest James Bond movie at Bugis+ on 31 October , a carnival-cum-flea event (STClassifieds Feste) to be held outside Cineleisure and at *Scape between 3 and 4 November, and a STClassifieds 1-Minute Sweep contest where participants can "grab whatever they want" within 60 seconds at selected merchants' shops from 5 November.

Mr Johnson Goh, Vice President and Head of SPH Online Classifieds (ST701), said: “With more people using the Internet to buy and sell things, we see the introduction of STClassifieds as timely and a service to them. Of course, as with all online transactions, I would like to take the opportunity to remind users to exercise due diligence when it comes to sealing their deals online.”

Mr Tan Yexiang, Product Manager of STClassifieds, said: "We are very proud of the fact that we have introduced stringent checks in our system to monitor potential fraud cases and minimise spam occurrences so as to provide a pleasant user experience for everyone."

The STClassifieds app is currently available on Android smart phones and will soon be available on iPhone and iPad.
