Users can now post ad listings online to buy, sell and rent cars for free
Singapore, November 19, 2012 – ST701 Cars is the fourth vertical to be relaunched on November 20 by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) as STCars (STCars.sg), after STJobs, STProperty and STClassifieds. The portal provides an improved buy-sell-rent platform for motorists and dealers. Users can now post ads on STCars for free.
Since 2010, used car transactions have surpassed new car transactions. In 2011, there were 72,000 used car transactions compared to less than 30,000 new cars registered. This year, it is estimated that there will be close to 80,000 used car transactions, three times more than the expected 28,000 new cars registered.
Mr Jack Chua, Senior Product Manager, STCars, said: “With the increase in demand for used and rental cars, especially during the festive season, STCars is introduced at an opportune time as the preferred platform for motorists and dealers who want to post their ads online without having to incur extra costs. Unlike some competitors who charge as much as $96 for a six-week online ad listing exposure, STCars wants to provide a real and timely benefit to dealers, direct sellers and individual buyers.”
Motorists can find more than 10,000 listings that span across new cars, used cars, commercial vehicles, rental vehicles, and car accessories with a federated search feature. The best-in-class function can yield multiple results from a single query. Users can also find motoring directory merchants, browse car accessories, find motoring news from reputable wired sources and car reviews written by SPH journalists.
In conjunction with its inception, STCars will be collaborating with the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) to launch this year’s Anti-Drink Drive Campaign today. The partnership and endorsement further seals STCars' position as Singapore’s most trusted car site.
Mr Bernard Tay, BBM, Chairman, SRSC, said: “I am certain our partnership with SPH (STCars), a private organisation that has a deep-rooted involvement in serving the community - and in this case, promoting road safety in Singapore - will be a successful one. I look forward to more of such meaningful collaborations which would ultimately benefit everyone living in Singapore.”
Mr Johnson Goh, Vice President, Head of SPH Online Classifieds (ST701) said: “We are pleased with the tremendous support we have received from SRSC and business partners such as One Motoring, Singapore Petroleum Company, AA Singapore, Comfort Delgro and VICOM. The fact that they are working with us in various ways shows that STCars is deemed as a credible product that is worthy of their choice. With our partners and users’ support, I’m confident that we will attain our vision of becoming the most preferred online cars portal in the local market in no time.”
Said Ms Ann Tan, Assistant Vice President, Marketing, VICOM Ltd: "We are confident that our partnership with STCars will continue to provide a win-win business collaboration between us, which will ultimately benefit the motorists."
