COMEX 2012 sets optimistic tone for tech industry

Major innovations include tablets, apps, ultrabooks, connected TVs and superphones

Singapore, 29 August 2012 – 
COMEX returns this year with a record 330,000 square feet of exhibition space, and 830 enthusiastic exhibitors. COMEX 2012 brings momentum to the consumer technology industry and reinforces its status as Singapore's largest I.T and consumer electronics exhibition. Organised by Exhibits Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), the four-day show will be held at Suntec Singapore from 30 August till 2 September, from 12 noon to 9pm daily. 

COMEX 2012 will display a dynamic and comprehensive line-up of the latest and hottest consumer technology gadgets from next-generation connected televisions, coolest mobile phones, Netbooks, Digital Imaging, Wireless Technology, Portable Entertainment, HD LED TV, Gaming, GPS, Home/Business Networking, Digital Media, Audio & Home Theatre Entertainment, Lifestyle Products, Broadband Technology, Multimedia, Security, Software, Consumer Electronics to a plethora of accessories all under one roof. 

With the relationship between technology and content growing in significance, visitors can also look forward to seeing a host of exciting new products that will be featured for the first time, such as touchscreen tablets, ultrabooks, “Smart TV” systems which display web content and super phones. 


Mr Melvin Koh, General Manager of Exhibits Inc Pte Ltd, said: “The COMEX Show has been at the forefront of the latest innovations, whether they are IT, mobile or digital electronics. This development has been spurred by widespread adoption of social media and consumers who are more discerning towards a better multimedia experience. As evident from our past shows, the response from both exhibitors and visitors to COMEX has been phenomenal.”

Mr Koh added: “In 2011, we attracted close to 835,000 visitors and recorded $73 million in sales. This year, we are targeting to draw in 850,000 visitors and a projected $75 million in sales. With exciting offerings and a wide range of hot deals, COMEX 2012 has something for everyone.”

SPH has a 20 per cent stake in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd, which operates free-to-air channels 5, 8 and U, and a 40 per cent stake in MediaCorp Press Limited, which publishes the free newspaper, Today. In the radio business, SPH has an 80 per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations UFM 100.3 in Mandarin, as well as Kiss 92 and HOT FM91.3 in English.

Events and Out-of-Home Advertising

SPH’s events subsidiary Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s leading Digital Out-of-Home advertising company.

Properties

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. Its latest retail development, The Clementi Mall, started business operations in 2011. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, has also developed a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
