Singapore, 19 July 2012 – Lianhe Zaobao, the Chinese flagship newspaper of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), and EZ-Link Pte Ltd, have jointly launched a Tap & Donate campaign to raise funds for this year's President's Challenge.
The charity campaign was launched this morning at The Clementi Mall by President Tony Tan Keng Yam.
The campaign is supported by People’s Association, Transit Link Pte Ltd, Kim San Leng (F&B) Group, Sheng Siong Group, M1 Limited and SPH Buzz Pte Ltd.
The objective of the Tap & Donate campaign is to involve and encourage people from all walks of life to do their part for charity. The general public can easily make a quick and fuss-free donation of $5, $10, $20 or $50 with just a tap of their ez-link card (except for concession cards) at donation terminals specially set up at the following venues:

Upon making their donations at the terminals, donors are automatically qualified to take part in a weekly lucky draw. There will be a total of 200 prizes to be won, each being a Hugs & Kisses FEVO Prepaid MasterCard worth $52. Results of the lucky draw will be published in Lianhe Zaobao.
In addition, the Tap & Donate Campaign has produced 10,000 Commemorative ez-link cards, which are available at any TransitLink Ticket Offices each with a $20 donation.
There are also a total of 100 Limited Edition Platinum ez-link cards with serial numbers for those who wish to make a $3,000 donation. Donors who are keen to get the Limited Edition Platinum ez-link cards can contact 6319 5864 / 6319 8529 / or email firstname.lastname@example.org for enquiries.
This morning, 13 of the Limited Edition Platinum ez-link cards with auspicious numbers was put up for a public silent bidding, with a starting bid of $3,000.
There is no stored value in the Commemorative and Limited Edition Platinum ez-link cards. Net proceeds from the campaign will be donated to the appointed beneficiaries (Annex B) under President’s Challenge 2012. The campaign will run from today till 30 September 2012.
President’s Challenge is an annual series of activities to get the community involved in helping the less fortunate and to raise funds for the social service sector.
SPH's Chinese Newspapers Division (CND) has been a strong supporter of President's Challenge over the years. Since 2002, CND has organised many community events to raise funds for charity, namely the National Treasure Hunt, Show You Care, Buy a Bear, the ZPop Charity Concert, a series of Youth Talent Concerts, Charity Gala Dinner and Charity Dance Drama. Last year, the dance drama "Thousand Hands Bodhisattva", which ran at the Esplanade, raised over $120,000 through ticket sale and donations.
SPH, as a group, has also supported President's Challenge as a Media Sponsor through the years with sponsorship of advertisement space in major newspapers such as The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao.

Events and Out-of-Home Advertising
