Shape Run 2012 flags off this Sunday with two novel features

Singapore, July 12, 2012 – 8,600 women runners are set to race through Nicoll Highway this Sunday, July 15, at 7am for the Shape Run 2012, organised by Shape Singapore, a publication of SPH Magazines Pte Ltd.

Singapore’s first women-only race, Shape Run has also been hailed as the country’s most popular event in the category by Singapore Sports Council.

Into its seventh year, Shape Run 2012 gets an update in its format. In addition to the usual 5km and 10km challenges, a non-competitive 2.4km category is now available. The event will also, for the first time, include men – not as competitors but as Shape pacers to help the female runners achieve their goal timings.

With the introduction of the non-competitive 2.4km category this year, we seek to spur more women into action, especially those who have not laced up since school days. We also hope the inclusion of male pacers will help our runners achieve their personal best timings."

Winners of the 10km and 5km categories will each get $1,000 and $500 cash respectively, along with fabulous health & beauty products and services, such as a treadmill, an elliptical cross trainer, cameras and more. The second to 10th place finishers of both events will also be awarded prizes.

All participants will get a Runner's Kit after completing the race – a Shape sports bag filled with beauty and health products as well as vouchers, nutritious snacks, spa vouchers, fitness trial passes, and many other freebies. They will also get a medal and race certificate with their personal timing after the run.

Shape Run 2012 is proudly presented by Subaru and co-presented by Reebok, with Kellogg’s as the main sponsor. Other sponsors include Aibi, BIC, Citispa, Futuro, H-TWO-O, Himalaya Herbals, Jacob’s, Maybank, Olympus, One-A-Day, Marigold Yoghurt, SilverDea, True Fitness and Vitagen Collagen.
