Singapore, 5 July 2012 – The inaugural "Gourmet Japan" – a Japanese culinary festival for food lovers presented by JCB International Co., Ltd – has received tremendous response from sophisticated diners with discerning palates. With less than two weeks to go, two of the dinners are sold out with seats filling up fast for the others. Interested diners are advised to get their tickets soon.
Tickets to two dinners – "The Sake & Shochu Dinner" at Mikuni of the Fairmont Singapore, and the "Suntory Whisky Flight Experience" at Grand Hyatt's 10 Scotts – are sold out.
There are only limited places left for "The Best of Japan" dinner at Au Jardin on 1 August featuring Sebastien Lepinoy, Executive Chef of Hong Kong's 1 Michelin-starred Cépage and protege of legendary chef Joel Robuchon.
Another popular dinner with seats filling up fast is the Modern Japanese-French meets "Luxury of Whites" Wine Dinner presented by Grand Vin featuring Chef Laurent Peugeot on 8 August at his French-Japanese fine dining restaurant, LP+Tetsu.
Two other dinners, one traditional and one fusion, both with excellent wine pairings, are also getting good response.
i) Omakase Wine Dinner with Coldstream Hills
On 25 July, traditional Japanese cuisine meets new-world Australian wine at the “Omakase Wine Dinner with Coldstream Hills”.
To be held at Nadaman at the Shangri-La Singapore, this dinner will feature an authentic eight-course menu specially crafted by Resident Chef Koichi Ota, with each dish paired with the finest vintages of Coldstream Hills wines. With close to 30 years of experience, Chef Ota is a culinary master in all areas of Japanese cuisine. His mastery extends to kaiseki, a form of Japanese haute cuisine described as the art of transforming the blessings of nature into food.
The wines will be presented by the estate’s chief winemaker Andrew Fleming.
ii) Indoguna Presents “Gems of the Japanese Sea” Dinner with Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte
On 26 July, the “Gems of the Japanese Sea” will be held at the Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck located at Paragon. The grand fusion dining event will see Cantonese culinary style meeting the freshest seasonal seafood from Japan. Diners will get to savour such “gems” as abalone, scallop, prawn, eel and Japanese spider crab.
To complement the natural sweetness of Japanese seafood, these imaginative creations will be paired with a selection of fine French vintages from Nicolas Feuillatte and Palme's D'or champagnes.
The dinner will be hosted by David Henault, Cellar Master of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, the number one champagne brand in France.
