omy.sg launches first Singapore Twitter Frenzy with Sentosa

Singapore, 1 June 2012 - In conjunction with World Twitter Day (on the 140th day of the year), omy.sg launched the first ever Singapore Twitter Frenzy (http://project.omy.sg/sg-twitter-frenzy/) with Sentosa from this week to 3 June.

During this period, anyone on Twitter can simply tweet three designated hashtags (#MySentosaMemories, #SentosaAfter5 and #HappyBirthdaySentosa) to @SGTweetFrenzy.

Three best tweets stand to win over S$1,000 worth of prizes from Sentosa, including a hotel stay at Sentosa. They will also receive exclusive invites to attend the Singapore Twitter Frenzy Award happening at Wave House, Sentosa on 9 June.

The Singapore Twitter Frenzy event follows on the heels of the Singapore Check-In Bonanza (
http://project.omy.sg/check-in-bonanza/) from 16 April to 14 May, launched by omy.sg with Sentosa this year in conjunction with the World Foursquare Day. This is the second collaboration between omy.sg and Sentosa for a social media targeted event.

Anna Ng
, Deputy Director, Marketing, Sentosa Leisure Management, said: “Sentosa is turning 40 this year and we would like to extend our birthday celebrations onto social media platforms! In addition to expanding our online brand awareness, we hope to connect with existing and new followers, and reward the most creative tweets with Sentosa treats. They can come play on the island and share wonderful memories on Sentosa.”

Lee Kuan Fung, Associate Editor, omy.sg, said: “omy.sg is always committed to engaging with the local social media community. Like Check-In Bonanza, Twitter Frenzy is set to be branded as another annual social media event for everyone to look forward to each year. We are really glad to have a wonderful partner like Sentosa to join us on board as a partner for both events this year.”

The Twitter Frenzy is part of a series of events branded under Social Media Fiesta (
http://project.omy.sg/social-media-fiesta), an omy.sg social media initiative. The Singapore Social Media Fiesta is an umbrella of events focused on social media to reach out to the Singapore online community. The Social Media Fiesta brand was introduced in 2011 and consists of four flagship events from April to July in 2012 – 5th Singapore Blog Awards, First Check-In Bonanza, First Twitter Frenzy and 2nd Singapore Social Media Day.

Following the footsteps of the successful Singapore Blog Awards (
http://sgblogawards.omy.sg), the Twitter Frenzy will be established as an annual local twitter event that Singaporeans can look forward to every year.
