SPH iink Awards Celebrates the Best in Creative Ads

Three new categories added to recognise the best Digital, Radio and Out-of-Home advertisements.

Singapore, 22 May 2012 – Leading media company Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) is inviting all advertising agencies, advertisers and other advertising-related organisations to submit their advertisements published in any of SPH’s 18 newspaper titles and other media platforms for this year’s SPH iink Awards.

Formerly known as the SPH Ink Awards, it has been renamed the
SPH iink Awards this year – with the additional “i” representing “Integration”. The logo has also been revamped to include the additional “i”.

To recognise creative and effective advertisements in SPH’s whole spectrum of media platforms, three new categories have been introduced in this year’s SPH iink Awards –
Digital, Radio and Out-of-Home.

With the newly added awards, the nine categories for this year’s SPH iink Awards are:

Category A: Print Single – English
Category B: Print Campaign – English
Category C: Print Single/Campaign – Chinese
Category D: Print Classified/Recruitment/Notice
Category E: Print Creative Media Buy
Category F: SPH IS ON Campaign
Category G: Digital
Category H: Radio
Category I: Out-of-Home

The SPH iink Awards was originally launched to honour the best print advertisements and the creative people behind them. In 2009, a new category was added to recognise those who embrace creativity not just through print advertisements, but also in other SPH media platforms via integrated campaigns.

To be eligible for the ‘SPH is On Campaign’ category, entries must have appeared in at least one other SPH marketing platform besides newspapers. SPH’s comprehensive range of marketing platforms includes more than 100 magazine titles, 2 radio stations, out-of-home as well as online media, including internet TV.

One of the nine winners will also be named the overall Grand Prix winner.

Points will be allocated to the winners and finalists of each category. The highest scoring agencies across all categories will be crowned the
iink Creative Agency Of The Year and the iink Media Agency Of The Year, respectively. These two additional awards were introduced last year, and DDB Singapore and Mindshare Singapore were crowned the inaugural winners.

Mr Leslie Fong, Senior Executive Vice-President of SPH’s Marketing Division, said: "SPH prides itself as a leading media company with a vast selection of marketing solutions for all brand owners. We have honoured advertisers who use our other media platforms together with newspapers via integrated campaign awards in the past, but this year, we have decided to award the best ads that were created with the specific media in mind – namely Digital, Radio and Out-of-Home.”

"The iink Creative Agency of the Year and iink Media Agency of the Year awards also serve to give recognition to the agencies that toil endlessly to create and deliver a successful campaign for their clients. SPH values the importance of the creative and media agencies, and we are delighted to honour the best of these agencies,” he added.

Entry Submission and Prizes

To be eligible for the SPH iink Awards, entries must have appeared in SPH newspapers during the period of 1 June 2011 to 31 May 2012.

The submission deadline is
11 June 2012.

The winners of the Ink Awards will be announced in a gala event in August. The winning advertisers from Categories A to F, as well as the Grand Prix winner, will each receive a full page advertising space in either The Straits Times or Lianhe Zaobao.

The winning advertisers from Categories G to I (Digital, Radio and Out-of-Home) will each receive $30,000 worth of ads.

In addition, the Creative Agency that wins the Grand Prix will win a cash prize of $8,000.
If the Grand Prix winner is from Category E (Print Creative Media Buy) or Category F (SPH IS ON Campaign), the media agency involved will also win $8,000 in cash.
